Big Game tonight.

Phils desperately need every one they can get and Lee has been pitching excellently.

Dickey wants to make sure his book gets a good "new afterward" for the paperback edition, so you can be sure he'll be at his best.

Terry needs the home-losses streak to end to keep his job and Fred/Jeff to keep their money. I don't think Sandy cares.

I want that Boston sports jock to call Sandy to ask him if he's checked out.

T'would be nice if we could also finish up this 2nd half by having the most wins of any team at CitiField.
Someone posted the to-date totals a couple of days ago and we were like 4th. 10 home games left.

I think in 1978, then-Cub Dave Kingman hit more homers at Shea than any Met. Or at least he was leading for much of the year.

What this country needs is a good Nickeas cigar!

Ruben Tejada – SS
Daniel Murphy – 2B
David Wright – 3B
Scott Hairston – RF
Lucas Duda – 1B
Jason Bay – LF
Andres Torres – CF
Mike Nickeas – C
R.A. Dickey – RHP

1979: Joel Youngblood leads Mets in Shea Stadium home runs with 8. Lee Mazzilli and Richie Hebner follow with 6. Dave Kingman also has 6, as a Cub. Sky King clouted 9 versus his former club that year, home and away.

I'll settle for just a good Nickeas. Dickey Ks Rollins to start the game and Nick cant handle the 3rd strike. Jimmy reaches.

And Dickey throws away a pickoff throw. Oy. This isn't starting well. Well, the last few didn't end well. Maybe we are turning things around.

Torres can't make a throw to the plate from the infield.
1-0 them.

Couldn't see it on the replay. A few more of these and I'll start thinking that the umps are looking for things to call on Dickey.

Very nice catch by Bay. And somehow he didn't hit his head on anything.

Maybe Jason Bay will make a useful defensive replacement.

For Las Vegas.

Anyone know why they have built additional box seats by the dugout?

Torres, you're down by two in the seventh inning. What the heck are you swinging at the first pitch for?

Re: IGT 9/17 v PHIL: Phillies: Prepare to get Knucklephuck

It would be easy to bitch about the fact that their two HRs made it over the fences by like a combined 8 inches or so - but until one of our batters actually makes their OFers back up to make a play (whether on a hit or not) we're not going to get those breaks.

I think so far only Duda's 2B and one fly out (forget who) made an OFer move in any direction other than in.

We should instead start guys who CAN get the ball out of the infield.
Oh wait, we don't have any of those.
