John Olerud, Playing the Jesus Card in DBag Neighbor Dispute

And while nobody HAS to be the dbag in a neighbor dispute, if I had to pick a bad guy, Olie would be it.

This is surprising behavior for a Met whose card I would have assumed Jesus would play in any given moral, ethical or geographical dispute.

"Funny. I once played with a guy who ended up going after his neighbor to get rid of a view-obscuring tree."

Re: John Olerud, Playing the Jesus Card in DBag Neighbor Dis

I thought for sure this thread was going to be about Olerud bitching about his neighbor that keeps asking him to not park four junkers on his street.

"You guys saw the trees," Olerud said at the board hearing. "They're not attractive trees. I would say they're the kind of tree that only an arborist would love. ...

The tree, with a 2-foot-thick trunk, was there long before the Oleruds built their home

Case Closed, imo.

I love Johnny O as much as the next Met fan, but the more I learn about his non-baseball persona, the more I get disappointed.

I'm rooting for the tree in this one.

He sounds like Donald Trump here. And that's even worse than smelling like Mike Lupica.

I'm assuming there's probably a rule on height? Otherwise maybe he should've built a taller house.

He should just install a crow's nest on the roof of his house. Whenever he wants to look at Seattle, he can climb up there.

It's amazing that that one tree can obscure the entire Seattle skyline.

You'd think, huh? But according to the article, this township apparently has a law about respecting each other's views (or, in Olerud's case, potential views that his home has never actually enjoyed) that allows him to press his case.

That this has devolved into a rich man's argument over second grade Sunday school theology between gentle smiling antagonists is face-plantingly embarrassing.

Um, you figure out what the view would be, and THEN you build the house. If the view is blocked, you build somewhere else. What if the guy's house blocked his view? Would he have the right to tear it down?

But yeah, nice to have these kind of problems.

Doesn't all the rain and fog block out the Seattle skyline like 342 days per year anyway?

A simple Google search shows quite a few companies that specialize in large tree relocation.

Dig it up and move to the other side of the yard.

Geez.

it would be one thing if the tree were a fast-growing species which has grown into the view over time. or, you know, if the oleruds had made sure their architect considered all the sightlines when he drew up their house.

its bullshit. viva tree.

Re: John Olerud, Playing the Jesus Card in DBag Neighbor Dis

Christ. I'd rather have Jose Canseco for a neighbor. With that kind of douchebag you can just write off--he's like that, and there's nothing anyone, including him, can do about it. Except call the cops. But you know Olerud's thought a lot about it. To be so calmly, sensibly, considerately, rationally, politely wrong--it's practically psychopathic.

Another player I love but really don't want to know. Oh well.

Re: John Olerud, Playing the Jesus Card in DBag Neighbor Dis

I dunno. Canseco is far more likely to be (a) armed, (b) making a play for your teenaged daughter, and (c) brain-addled and violent from the juice.

Give me polite society taking it bullshit disputes before zoning boards.

Obstructive Blouse Fosters dispute over What's a Good Neighbor

Prolific CPF Poster contends woman on bus should remove blouse that blocks poster's view of amazing breasts

By Adam Rubin
ESPN News

....

Centerfield, who declined to be interviewed, said at a recent hearing he couldn't understand why the woman wouldn't help her fellow busriders enjoy the same "amazing view" she enjoys.

"You guys saw the blouse," said CF. "It's not a fashionable blouse. Neither is her bra. I would say they're the kind of clothes that only the devil could love."

"I'm just making the point that if you've been blessed with a killer rack, and yet you aren't willing to offer that to your neighbor, how is that being a good neighbor?

When Olerud was living in the house for 8 months while the neighbor was in Scotland, there could have been this huge wind storm -- yea, that's it, a TORNADO -- and the tree was uprooted and they had to take it down. Yea, that's the ticket. Too bad, because i really kind of liked that tree . . .

Now -- too fucking late. Viva La Tree!

Worth mentioning that Olerud was never linked to bullshit of this sort before he became number 18 for the Yankees.
