Start Training

CLASSIC RAWK CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 is coming.

This is where we will predict the content and order of the annual Top 1043 songs of all-time as played over Thanksgiving weekend on WAXQ. By way of training, I'd suggest you listen to your local Clear Channel CR station, for as long as you can stand it. It will be interesting to see how this year's countdown differs from years past. I think it could significantly.

I will announce a signup in coming weeks.

How did they come up with 1043?

We just need to hack into batmagadanleadoff's database for all the answers.

Re: Start Training

I'm not sure what's going to happen in the countdown, but would suspect a database of past winners could possibly mislead given what appears to be the "Classic Rock" genre itself undergoing a kind of shift.

Your milage may vary!

Re: Start Training

I'd love to play, but I'd listen to the John Sterling Home Run Call Channel before I listen to commercial classic rock stations.

I'm spinning all my Skynyrd records backwards listening for secret homages to the joys of city living and mass transit.

OK, fine, I'm in. But I get to impose my own arbitrary rules.

I know, right? When "We Belong" appeared in Talladega Nights, I hadn't heard it in 10 or 15 years, now you'd think it was Pat Benatar's career-defining hit. I can't shop for tabouli or stare at a cover band for 10 minutes without hearing it.

There's the rub. Too many of us were accused of peeking in previous Classic Rawk Challenges so now JCL has us pick our songs before the countdown is even broadcast. [crossout]I miss the days when we could just search the web and cherry pick the answers,[/crossout] I mean I miss the days when we could all feel that we could trust one another.

Seems like I've been training for this my whole life.

[list:34sdac9a]Standing in the rain
With his head hung low
Couldn't get a ticket
It was a sold out show
Heard the roar of the crowd
He could picture the scene
Put his ear to the wall
Then like a distant scream...
He heard one [bigpurple:34sdac9a]GUITAR!
JUST BLEW HIM AWAY!
HE SAW STARS IN HIS EYES![/bigpurple:34sdac9a]
And the very next day...[/list:u:34sdac9a]

i'm in like tin.

i'm sure there's a classic rock appropriate tin reference that you're all thinking of, which is clearly what i'm referring to.
