Re: IGT 10/2/12-Mets @ Marlins

I have to say I don't really get why Greenberg is getting this AB.....I know the story, just to me really reflects how meaningless this game is and tells the story of both teams season.

Mets minority share buyers are guaranteed one MLB At bat.

Re: IGT 10/2/12-Mets @ Marlins

Scoreless into the fourth, until Gorkys Hernandez hits a solo homer.

Puts win number 21 in jeopardy, but more critical are Dickey's chances at an ERA title.

Re: IGT 10/2/12-Mets @ Marlins

Two outs and runner at second, the Marlins walk Torres to pitch to Dickey.

Looking to win it by himself, he whiffs.

The game is official, so my hopes for a massive blackout and cancellation to delete that run from his ERA are dashed.

I feel so ditched. Riding out the final DickeyDay alone.

Dickey responds to the homer by fanning the side.

Get some runs, you top-o'-the-order METS.

Dickey gets strikeout number 230 but gives up run number three after three straight two-out hits.

That's it for Dickimundo, it looks like... and NO! Terry leaves him in.

Good. Fuck that 88-pitch hook.

Or a walk. Or a catcher's interference call or something.

Acosta replaces Dickish in the bottom of the seventh.

This snippet quickly became Lunchpail's favorite song this summer. I was shocked to discover it was by the "Drops of Jupiter" guys, Train.

Realizing that the only replacement left on the bench was a reliever who had never batted before and would have to go into the game to catch afterward ... I still might hit for Thole there.

Neither one over. Cano goes down as well so they're going to extra innings there too. Too bad, they nearly finished that BOS-NYY game under three hours.

I was just playing off of GWreck's post ... and off of Thole's complete incompetence as a major league hitter.

3rd pitcher this inning. We better win this one soon or Terry's going to have to start giving relief innings to Niese or Harvey

Or he gets to invoke the rule where, if the game goes past midnight, Dickey becomes re-available again.
