Video Game Nostalgia? What could be better?

Takes place in an arcade. Arcades are awesome.

John C. Reilly as Wreck-It Ralph, the villain of Fix-It Felix, Jr.
Sarah Silverman as Vanellope von Schweetz, a 9-year-old racer and glitch in Sugar Rush.
Jack McBrayer as Fix-It Felix, Jr., the hero of Fix-It Felix, Jr.
Jane Lynch as Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun, the lead character of Hero's Duty.
Alan Tudyk as King Candy

Ralph is the bad guy from the game Fix-It Felix, Jr. and is feeling unloved. Felix wins the medal every day for being a hero and no one likes Ralph, the guy that wrecks everything. When he discovers the cast of the game celebrating 30 years without him, he sets out on a quest to win a medal in some other game to prove he can be a hero too.

Hi-Jinx ensue, and most of the game takes place in Sugar Rush, a kart racing game. where he meets Vanellope von Schweetz, a glitch in the game that wants to become a 'real racer' and they clash and bond as they both chase their goals.

It was a fun movie, with all sorts of old game nostalgia. Sure, most of the plot was what you'd expect in a PG movie, but it had plenty of touching moments as Vanellope tries to become a real part of the game and Ralph is torn between his quest to get his medal to prove he's a hero and doing what a real hero would do and help Vanellope.

there are a billion video game references from old games. The bad guy enters the Konami Code on an NES controller at one point. Q*Bert features as a homeless hero, his game having been turned off. Pac-Man ghosts, Bowser, Doctor Eggman..etc.

I enjoyed it. It wasn't deep or complicated or anything, but it doesn't have to be, it's an 8-bit adventure!

Very cute, and intelligently written. A candy coated Heart of Darkness that's fun for the whole family.

it may well be the best cgi movie i've seen that didn't have the word pixar on it. granted, it did have the word lasseter, so there's that.

it felt smart like a pixar flick, but not as deep as you would generally expect from them. not that it's a bad thing. it's no toy story (1 2 or 3) but then, what is?

i gave it a 4.5/5, because its just so much fun. and while jack mcbrayer may only have one setting, that one setting is pure gold when all you need is a jack mcbrayer.

I liked it too. My favorite part was the way the stuffy guy in the apartment building was animated exactly like a 30 year old coin-op cabinet video character. I LOLed every time he moved.
