Per the twitters:
Chris Young for Cliff Pennington?!?!

That is for real...Oakland buys low on Chris Young and sells Pennington high who will start at SS for the Dbacks.

Wasn't Heath Bell supposed to go to the MFY as part of the A-Rod deal?

Eff you, Sandy, for not offering... ... Justin Turner? I don't even think we have anyone as terrible as Pennington.

Sandy probably didn't want to repeat the old "having two Bob Millers on the same roster" thingie.

Head-scratcher. I wouldn't want the 2 yrs + $13 mils left on Bell's contract without giving up Young. Score A's (and Marlins).

Ha! , I think there was even some confusion on @Twatter as to which Chris Young it was.

The Marlins are paying a chunk of Bell's remaining deal. Still a bit odd I suppose, although Young hasn't been what some thought he would by now either [.231/.321/.434 in 2012 which is about his career stats also] plus he's already 29 y/o and is due to make $8.5 in 2013, then comes an option for $13

That 2/13 is, I guess, what's left after the Marlins pay their freight. Agreed on Young, but wouldn't have minded that gamble either. If he repeats his 2k12, you buy that option out & he's but a memory.

Relax, homeboy. Just taking the piss, as they say. I got Sandy's back.

Though I'd love for the Mets to go for three.

-A's did very well here, getting a talented centerfielder for trash.

Unless that's the Marlins.

You think so, Doctor? He's been so poor that he's forced 'pen-traditionalist Leyland into a bullpen-by-committee, on national TV. I'm thinking 1 year/6M or 2 years/10M, tops.

Whether its specifically Valverde or someone else isn't the point, the point is that multi-year big dollar closer contracts generally don't work out, and then everyone forgets that and keeps giving them out.

Frank Francisco money.

That's the profile he's taking to his next employer, pretty much.
