Also this day, Randy Jones' impressive innings load (or, more likely a one-point victory in the win column) helps him edge out not one, not two, but three superlative seasons from Met starters in garnering perhaps the least strikey-outey Cy Young Award in baseball history. That sort of workload will damage a pitcher's future. But no worries, Padre fans, that ugly future would come with the Mets, while those other three guys continued to pile up wins
