Re: Re-Building

Hey, man, we got the baby-Mets back after a year without 'em. Big deal, I think.

They may only have a few shillings to play with, but I'm glad now that they do, they've returned to re-investing in development where they were led to cut back a year before.

Yeah, that's kind of interesting. You wonder if they are slashing costs elsewhere to pay for this.

This comes out of the Bill Maher fund, I think/hope. I imagine they had to slash everywhere last year just to get through the season with some bank left over and now they think they can unslash a little bit --- run lean but not gutted.

Re: Re-Building

may be just a transitional thing anyway, they're playing at PSL so maybe that had issues with the building/location/something. This year they apparently want/need the roster spots to stash guys.

Re: Re-Building

"The new CBA has accelerated the signing of players from the Draft," said general manager Sandy Alderson as part of a press release. "And with the continuation of two teams in the Dominican Summer League, we need more rookie level roster space for our young players. We are happy to be back in the Gulf Coast League while retaining our affiliation in Kingsport of the Appalachian League."

The Mets nonetheless openly cited their financial constraints when they shut down GCL operations last year.

The Mets are now (again) one of only three organizations with nine minor league affiliates.
