Steve Cohen tried to buy the Dodgers. Didn't work out. Steve Cohen took a look at the Mets. But the 'Pons were insisting on holding out. Fans decried their lousy luck. Sell, Fred! Steve Cohen saw minority shares of the Mets go on the market and bought, perhaps hoping to get a foot in the door as the next owner. Steve Cohen has been implicated in insider trading. I ask (1) Are Hedge Funders the last Americans capable of making a big enough fortune to buy a ball team? And (2) Are they all crookit?
