Everything seems closed or closing ... anyone here essential enough
to be working the salt mines today?

essential? no, working? yes. Small company that are cynical and useless. I haven't even done much today. They're conceding to leaving at 1, which should get me home before the craziness and may even allow me to pick up some lunch.

They haven't given us any instructions for tomorrow though.

A big piece of my responsibility is monitoring social media channels for the university, which I suppose I could do at home but can do more effectively here. Plus, we have responsibility to our students who are here living on campus, so I'm here to do my piece.

We just cancelled classes for tomorrow too, though, so I'm thinking I'm done and I'm about to head out.

Working at home, but mostly playing scrabble.

(Seawolf must not REALIZE he is facing a 98-point opening-move deficit).

Home, we had called scheduled patient's Friday to basically use common sense, and frankly driving on the Hutch/Cross Bronx and Sprain Brook Parkways would be dangerous.

Oh good. My atmospheric thermodynamics students have been given enough to ponder without me boring them for another hour and a half.

Working today; classes are ending at 2:30. Still no rain (I'm in Schenectady).

Don't know about tomorrow. Will have to hear if they cancel classes.

Archdiocese of NY has the schools closed Wednesday, they seem to be following what Bloomberg is doing with the public schools.....wife can work from home so it's OK, just hope schools are not closed all week.

Stayed home today, roads to Westchester were closed in areas , again, too dangerous to be driving on, officials tell me to stay off the roads that's fine with me.

When my son was little(he's 23 now) he played hours and hours of Memory by himself, with us, and especially with my dad. It is one of my sweetest memories of him.

Unfortunately it was on the bottom of a box in our basement, got wet and I had to throw it out yesterday.* I have about a whole truckload of ruined stuff I am throwing out this week, but that Memory Game hurts the worst.

*not storm related, but my garbage man is going to think so I bet

Back to work today, the building I was scheduled to work in today is totally without power so I came over to our main lab.

If you are going to Westchester Medical Center today or tomorrow I would call ahead to see if your docs is open, if you are coming here form testing(x-ray etc) call ahead.

back to work for me too. the office didn't lose power. I'm disappointed, would've been perfectly happy to have all week off. (although I'm appreciative of the ability to charge my stuff)

Schools are to remain closed Thursday and Friday.....as is Lorcan's catholic school, apparently it is policy for the Archdiocese of New York to follow along with public school closings......

Our parochial schools do that too. I don't know if it's because they share school buses or what.

When I was a kid I went to Catholic school and they followed the public school schedule because of the school buses.
