St. Nick

Ike Davis (our first Jewish Santa?) is getting the call this year as the Mets' Father Christmas. Adam Rubin reports that Reindeer Antlers Dickey will be riding sidesaddle, somehow breaking Anna Benson's mark as the sexiest elf in Mets history.

If you're of a mind to believe "home for Christmas" = "home for the year," you are free to conclude that hard-partying Ike and lame-duck R.A. will survive the offseason.

Re: St. Nick

Clarification seems to suggest I have the lineup wrong

[list]Santa: John Franco
Elf: Ike Davis
Elf: R.A. Dickey[/list:u]

Re: St. Nick

Beatwriters (!!) under the impression that appearance as elf is indication that Dickey won't be traded. It's as though they're as dumb as fans. Also, forgot Kris Benson was traded after playing Santa (some might say because of playing Santa)

Re: St. Nick

Then everyone sings:

Sandy Baby

Sandy Baby, slip a catcher under the tree, For me.
been an awful good fan, Sandy baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Sandy baby, a reliable clutch hitter too,
in Mets blue.
I'll wait up for you dear,
Sandy baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Think of all the fun we've missed,
Think of all the years that we’ve felt pissed,
Next year I could be just as good,
So just check things off my wishing list,
Sandy baby, I wanna pitching stud,
And not one just good,
Been an angel all year,
Sandy baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Sandy baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
Some bling.
You know I’m talkin’ some World Series rings.
Sandy baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry, tonight.

And Deadspin hacks out a rip piece just for the occasion.

Happy holidays.

I don't know why anyone reads that rag. It's just a slicker, snarkier, less informed NY Post.

No way - that's not how R.A. rolls.

Betcha' they'd still be hard to hit. The sauce would get in the batters' eyes.

...and his wife depicted two of Santa's elves that year.

Re: St. Nick

Funny to see this thread still active. The joke going around is that they told Dickey to dress as an elf, and he came as Elrond. That was the last straw for the Mets.

Re: St. Nick

And it's presumably R.A.'s last appearance in a Met jersey --- the blue one, but still.
