Two ISPs have reported that Syria has shut off the Internet nationwide. Phones being cut too. Gulp.

I hope this doesn't impair our CPF membership drive.

Re: Syria

I am so glad my niece and her family doesn't live in Jordan anymore....

They were visiting the States a couple of years ago when they found out their one year old son had liver cancer and stayed here to treat it. Wanted to go back but funds were low, so they are still here.

I hate to say this, but wow, that is what you call a silver lining. (Son doing well, btw, otherwise I would NEVER even allude to a silver lining)

Said son was born in Jordan so he might be a dual citizen; I hope not, they'll probably draft him someday...

Re: Syria

Hadn't know Joseph (it was Joseph, right?) was doing so well and I'm gratified to hear it.

Jordan, I hope, maintains its stability. They've been sewing the seeds for their own reform --- reform throughout the middle east --- for decades, about as much as you can hope for from a monarchy.

Yes, it's Joseph, and he is doing well...Thank you Edgy! Still keeping a good eye on him, of course.

Re: Syria

I just looked on a popular news site and there's nothing on
the US front page nor their international one about a com-
munications shutdown in Syria.

Washington Post.

New York Times

CNN.com has got it fifteenth, or something, but, you know, Cameron Diaz is having a birthday and everything.

Without the timeline of who put up what and when doesn't
really mean anything.

I think the point wasn't the order; it's that the news is sourced in multiple.

Speaking of news... how do you put your people on the ground-- safety-wise, much less product-delivery-wise-- if the ground is dark... by government hand? Sat phone?

I know ... I'll sound stupider if I explain so will let it go.
