Blinds, Drapes, Shutters?

I'm living in a fishbowl here. A cold fishbowl In the morning, any attentive neighbor can get a nice view of my bare buttocks. Bay evening, streetlights shine in my otherwise sleepy eyes.

It's time to commit to a window treatment or two or three or a dozen. What do you use and why?

Blinds. Easy way to add a splash of color to a room. Also, more adjustable than shades when you want partial lighting.

Blinds for the bedroom, we got Venentian style at Bloodbath & Beyond. In the living room we have boring old suspended white curtains from Ikea. They can be cut & ironed to appropriate length with a little work.

I've told you not to call me Honeycomb!

Honestly, I have no idea what kind of blinds they are.

We recently bought some fancy-schamncy top-down bottom-up blinds. I don't really know how to work them so mrs. sharpie does the adjusting. Must admit that they look pretty nice.

We're gondoliers, here... nice light adjustment, plus easier to replace than drapes/honeycombs/other when the cat or kid get frisky, too.

Gondoliers? Please explain. (Oh, I get it. You're venetians.)

The honeycomb are these babies, the cellular structure providing a double layer of the light paper to filter light and heat. I think they work well for bedrooms.

Got Levolor (I think) blinds which thankfully came with the house
since they're so daggumb expensive. Curtains and stuff vary by room
so it doesn't all look the same.

Side note: As a new homeowner like you, I'm worried they take away
my mortgage interest deduction now that I have one!

The in-laws have honeycombs, for maximum babyproofage.

They're nice, but it's a lot tougher to do that creepy-neighbor-peeking thing through 'em than through Venitians.

Upon further review, blinds are Hunter Douglas.

Be forewarned that the folks at 'Next Day Blinds' have no intention of delivering your blinds the next day.
