Put a number on it.

The following dudes are on the Mets roster, but bear no numbers. Guess which numbers they'll get at camp. If (and only if) you think they'll survive camp and get a nu number, guess that too.

For reference, a numerical roster up to date as of September:

Hey, you should have just accepted the apparent free point without giving it away.

Doh. this is a lot of work, camp number AND real number?

Benjamin Grimm Jan 17 2013 12:05 PM Re: Put a number on it. |
D'Arnaud smells like a 10 to me (that sounds weird) but I expect he'll show up while Terry Collins is still wearing that number.

This whole thread has a distinct smell of # 2 about it.

I overlooked it, but I do think they mothballed it too.

Benjamin Grimm Jan 17 2013 01:06 PM Re: Put a number on it. |
I'd give 8 to d'Arnaud so fast that his "broken-down" knee would spin. But I doubt that that's going to happen.

Don't you have to be a slugger to wear 44?
|
Edgy MD Jan 17 2013 06:46 PM Re: Put a number on it. |
The odd freaky pitcher gets it too. Isringhausen is the best example in Metdom, but David Cone and Ron Darling also passed through. On either side of the ball, donning it can be seen as a statement of intent to dominate. You can't hide in 44.

6 Buck
Wasn't Jermaine Allensworthless also a number 44?

Wait, who the hell is Josh Rodriguez?
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Feb 11 2013 07:53 PM Re: Put a number on it. |
Posthype former-second-rounder signed from the Pirates system last offseason; middle-infield depth who had a major-league-camp invite last ST.

Every year, I think about this a lot, and every year, I think I more or less have everybody in place, and every year, am disappointed to realize I have everything utterly and completely wrong. Going with my guesses in the roster thread, the only guy I got right was Anthony Recker in 20. Now I have to seriously update over there. Josh Satin and Omar Quintanilla should have been layups, but no! Damn you, new equipment manager guy.
