Yup.

Part of me thinks his jokes are his way of provoking the element apparently bordering on jumping ship/having a stroke/exploding to go ahead and do it. Call their humorless bluffs anyhow.

Re: Quotes of 2013

Let's talk about that 50-game suspension, Marlon.

“It was Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen combats gynecomastia,” Byrd said Friday, referring to the ailment that involves enlarged breasts in males. “The way that it was written last year by everybody, everyone called it a steroid. It is a banned substance. It was something that I took, not knowing because of the name that I was taking, me not checking the [banned] list for the first time in my career. I’ve said it before: I think you have to be an idiot to test positive. And I was one of those idiots. It was something stupid. I was not trying to cheat. It was a banned substance. It was not a steroid. But, again, you take something on the banned list, you’re going to get caught.”

Oh, that's OK then.

Being the one major leaguer who chose to work with the Victor Conte in the post-BALCO era tends to get you caught too, Marlon.

This link is from an Anabolic Steroid website that explains how Tamoxifen manipuates estrogen to increase testosterone....I doubt Marlon was using it as a breast cancer preventative...

As far as Jose goes he bought the ticket and is taking the ride.. all the way to Canada and beyond.

David Wright on why labeling him "our Jeter" was too kind.

“I got a chance to pick his brain a little bit. He was awesome. … It solidifies the reason that I kind of look up to him the way that I do, is the way that he treated me during the WBC.”

I remember that, and it really pissed me off; I made a point of giving both of them a nice hand. If you're gonna boo them, at least wait until they actually make an out/give up some runs.

I think this started happening in earnest around the 05/06 season.....at least in my Mets fandom going back to only the late 90's this has been the worst.

There is an element that goes to the games just to boo it seems, the last game I was at with my son the bile coming from thugs around us was embarrassing, there was also plenty of fans in our section trying to drown out that nonsense.

Re: Quotes of 2013

I remember Opening Day 1987, the day the Mets raised their World Championship flag and gave out the World Series rings. A day that should have been full of nothing but good feelings. Roger McDowell got booed for having a bad spring training.

There was one year recently (2010?) where the entire medical/training staff got booed, resulting in a huge cheer for the first non-trainer person...which was Charlie Samuels.

That's the stuff of captains, right there. You can have your Brauns and your Kemps. My boy fills column inches like nobody's business. In midseason form, I'd say.

It seems that Lucas is becoming a little more comfortable with speaking to the press.
When he first came up you couldn't drag words out of his mouth with a tractor. Now he is talking more, and some of what he says is kind of funny.
