I hope for the best, but when I look at the current roster, I'm not sure Johnson & Johnson can make enough bandages to cover all the holes from which they are bleeding. I listened to the entire presser, and it looks like Woody gave Rex a get out of jail free card. He'll even be part of the decision of the next GM. If they want to clean house, it should have been the other way around. Later

This week's New Yorker uses the Jets and especially Mark Sanchez as a prime example of the concept of sunk cost.

while i don't disagree with anything in the article, the problem with the Sanchez situation isn't just "escalation of commitment" or the psychology of sunk cost. The fact is if they cut Sanchez, his cost actually INCREASES, with the Jets taking a bigger cap hit than if they keep him. And salary caps in football, unlike in baseball, prevent teams from just eating their mistakes and moving on. Unless they can actually TRADE sanchez, which i don't think is possible, then they'll be stuck with him for one more year. Sure, they can bury him at the end of the bench, but you still need SOMEBODY to stand behind the center. interesting though that he mentions Matt Flynn, as i think SEattle might be the ONLY possible trade partner. His contract is basically a wash with Sanchez's, and Mark's old coach at USC, Pete Carroll, may be interested in reviving the kid's career and make him a useful backup. It's a longshot, of course, and the Jets would have to include a pick to make it happen, but its worth considering by both sides.

The new GM is tasked to keep Rex for at least next season so I suspect it might be Sanchez as the the starter.

Add Kevin Kolb to the list: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/report-kol ... --nfl.html Kevin Kolb is still a member of the Arizona Cardinals, but a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport indicates that could change soon due to a $2 million roster bonus due on St. Patrick's Day. If Kolb is cut, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News takes that a step further by saying the New York Jets could pursue Kolb with the intent of him being their starting quarterback. Kolb has experience in Marty Mornhinweg's version of the West Coast Offense as he and Kolb worked together with the Philadelphia Eagles. The other interesting aspect of this is what happens to the seemingly endless number of quarterbacks already on the Jets' roster. There is, of course, Mark Sanchez, who has struggled the past two seasons; David Garrard, who was just signed this week; Tim Tebow, who appears on his way out the door; and Greg McElroy, who seems to be caught in the crossfire of all this activity.

Why would the Jets sign Kevin Kolb? They still have to pay Sanchez or absorb most of his salary..beyond that they both suck so... Draft a QB in round six or so.. Oh...they really really need an RB...I guess Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell are it for now...
