I'd be pissed too if I were rumored to be getting traded to Baltimore..

This thread has fewer posts than the other one but it has a far better subject line.

If they didn't want to be traded how about taking less $$$ and getting a no-trade?

Um, when exactly would that issue of Playboy be coming out anyway?

This quote just boggles my mind:
]"We would never, ever have signed with New York if they had said they were going to trade us,"
This better be her husband's last contract then because unless there's a no-trade or he otherwise has rights to block a trade, any player can be traded at any time. I understand being upset at the possiblity of having to leave for a new city, which in her case could be damaging to her career since she might not be in a major market, but this is a reality of being married to a baseball player.

Did it ever cross her mind that a blow-up like this might hurt her husband's cause, not help him?

Anna Benson does nothing for me. There I said it.

Have you asked her to do anything?

I'm sure she's very busy.

Seen on another website:

]she is way over a replacement level player wife.

To paraphrase someone from another board, I wish the Mets would trade Anna for STFU.

I'm surprised at how little I care about this. Just a sort of mild pity for Kristin having to put up with that crap.

"[Players]' Wife Causes Ruckus" being a newsworthy story is so five years ago.

]"We would never, ever have signed with New York if they had said they were going to trade us," said Anna Benson, 29.

"They wanted [veteran pitcher] Tommy [Glavine] to school him, and then they turn around and trade us?" she asked. "The whole thing is upsetting to everybody."

"We wanted to help the city because of 9/11," Anna Benson said. "We specifically did it for New York, and then they turn around and trade us? I just don't understand."

....suit up of shut up, beeeeeeatch.

LOL I missed this nugget:

Thanks honey, but telling Howard Stern you'd sleep with the team and trying to become a D-list celebrity wasn't really necessary for the recovery effort.

Not that I'm a New Yorker, but I doubt her best abilities (taking off her top?) would have been that useful, either.

Speak for yourself - I find talent like that extremely useful.

It's time for her to just shut her mouth. She's just another no talent stripper (maybe a little talent) who married an athlete and thinks shes calling the shots. She wants to be the show so badly it's nauseating.

She's hot but the more and more she talks the uglier and more annoying she gets.

And this we crap is laughable.

WE have plenty of hot strippers in New York already, banish her to Baltimore!

Well, yeah....except I meant in the aftermath of 9/11.

Well, let's not be obtuse, she means as a generous rich couple and high-profile fundraisers.

Now she's misplayed about 100 other cards, and they're hardly the last generous couple on earth. And New York has 1,000 other needs right now apart from those related to the attack, but I think it's clear what she means.

i wonder what kristin was thinking marrying a loudmouth stripper. i can see how they would fun short-term, but not for more than 8 hours at a time.

anna benson has pretty teeth. but her accent is hard to listen to.

also i thought benson had a no-trade clause? i guess i have to be wrong wout that, i wonder why i thought that.

You really think her fundraising is much more than a ruse for more publicity? You're less cynical than I.

Just trying to get us back to responding to her actual statements, and shoot them down from there.

Dec 05 2005 08:49 PM

Eh. I guess. When someone makes an ass of themselves like she did in the paper I like to make fun, unfairly, at her expense.

I really don't care much one way in the other, I was just trying to be funny. It didn't work.

Nobody's ever accused Anna Benson of being a rocket scientist. But I think that her heart is in the right place. And she has a point about having behaved herself all last season - I don't recall hearing a peep from her until now.

Is she a genius? No. But let's not demonize the woman either.

Elster88
Dec 05 2005 08:55 PM

There have been other peeps regarding other towns. 2 for 2 in organizations bitched out in public.

Let's not overexaggerate what people are saying with words like demonizing. Let the kid have his fun.

Geez, I can't believe how much I'm talking about this. I REALLY don't care.

Not that I'm complaining or anything, but you'd think for an event primarily for kids she'd wear something a little less slutty. This is part of why I believe all the good community work is little more to her than a chance to have her chest photographed to advance her career.

Edit: I'm NOT complaining.

Willets Point

Sounds like your complaining Elster. All the children in the photos appear to be girls, but I'm sure some boys would happily sit in Anna's lap instead of Santa's.

I wanna be Santa Claus,
I wanna ride in the sleigh.
Then I'd fly through the air
And catch you a star tonight for Christmas day.

Santa Claus is someone who comes just once a year,
But I could be there ev'ry day, bringing Christmas cheer.

(I wanna be, I wanna be Santa Claus)
I wanna be Santa Claus.
(I wanna be, I wanna be Santa Claus)
I wanna be Santa Claus.
Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo (I wanna be Santa Claus)
I wanna be Santa Claus.
