The Mets agreed to minor league contracts with LHP Matt Perisho, INF Juan Tejeda, C Sandy Martinez and OF Julio Ramirez. Perisho, 30, is 11-17 in previous major league stints with Anaheim, Texas, Detroit, Florida and Boston. He was 2-0 in 24 games with the Marlins last season. Martinez, 35, has spent parts of eight seasons with six teams, batting .230. He last appeared in the majors in 2004 with Cleveland and Boston. Tejeda, 23, batted .291 for Erie of the Double-A Eastern League last season. Ramirez, 28, batted .241 with 23 home runs and 60 runs batted in for Triple-A Fresno of the Pacific Coast League.

The correct topic heading would have been: "Mets Get Tejada!"

Val's too addicted to the scoop to pursue the equally status-building technique of the mislead.

No wonder I couldn't find him. His name is Juan Tejeda. Get it right next time, Hal Bock. Still no picture though. He should become seawolf's new favorite player, though, as he played last season for the Erie Seawolves. The Seawolves are managed by our old pal Duffy Dyer.

Then he should also register for CPF 125: Nobody Cares Who Starts The Thread. I think Elster's teaching that this spring.

Yeah, but our Wolfie (left) could kick the hell out of their C. Wolf (right).

Maybe Heiptas isn't going to AAA. I see no reason why we signed this guy except to replace DiFelice.

Yabbut, last I heard, it takes at least two catchers to fill out a roster. One on the way up and one on the way down is typical.

Matt Perisho

Juan Tejada

Sandy Martinez

Julio Ramirez

It's never too late for Val to edit the headline.

A lot of these are a different type of pickup than the Mets typically do at this point. It seems to me that they are usually trying to find journeymem pitchers at this point, and wait until well after the New Year to try and shore up their batsmen, and end up not only with graybeards like Gerald Williams, but needing them.

Juan Tejeda is interesting to me. He's one of those unathletic types who just hits at every level. Maybe he's got some Benny in him.
