Warning: Assholes might get shot

The media coverage of this bi-polar bomb dude is just hilarious (to me).
I can hear them now if the guy blew up the plane and they learned there
were air marshalls on board who failed to protect everyone.

Don't be a dick and fly. You might just get shot.

Works for me.

Other various headlines

"Bangladesh suicide bomb kills 6, injures over 50"

"Baghdad bus blast kills 30"

I say they are justified to shoot him

Is there a Johnny Dickshot line in there somewhere?

I heard on the radio this morning that some of the guy's neighbors are saying that the air marshalls overreacted, that he was a nice guy and very friendly.

I suppose they think that when somebody is threatening to blow up an airplane the air marshalls should say, "Find out who he is! Get his neighbors on the phone! Ask them if he's nice and friendly!"

When they catch a serial killer and the news folks interview the neighbors, they alway say something like "He was a nice person. Nobody would have thought he would ever do something like that".

Typical

Except on Saturday Night Live when the neigbors of the man who shot Buckwheat all commented that they were not surprised at all he shot Buckwheat.

I can understand the "he's a nice guy" comments. It's when the neighbors use that perception to conclude that the marshalls overreacted is what can lead to trouble.

I just get annoyed with how stories are portrayed on a routine basis. So
many people are outraged by so much stuff, but no one gets outraged at
the win-win set up the media has.

The air marshall program isn't working and they may have over-reacted - when
they shoot someone who cried wolf.

The air marshall program isn't working because they didn't protect the plane - when
they hesitated and got everyone blown to kingdom come.

It's just a step above getting everyone all excited about snow only to get a dusting.

That's the stuff law enforcement officials have to deal with every day.

Law enforcement officials linked to unpopular governments? Forget about it.

When I go on my shooting spree my neighbors are going to be unanimous in saying that they saw it coming.

It's a bad situation. There's no way for the air marshals to know that he was (maybe) a nice guy with a serious mental illness who didn't take his pills that day as opposed to a deranged terrorist. But that sure isn't going to make the people who actually knew him feel any better.

And whoever I shoot when I go mine, everyone's going to agree that the victim(s) had it coming.

You can't fault the marshalls here. In this day and age, if someone says that he has a bomb, you have to take the threat at face value.

And nice guys don't threaten to blow up airplanes. The hell with his neighbors.

I recognize that it's unfortunate...and that it's sad that a nice guy with a mental illness has been killed. But I don't see that the Air Marshals had any choice. If I'm on that plane, the minute he says bomb, I'm not only urging the Air Marshals to shoot, but looking for objects to hurl at him myself.

the impulse to lay blame, find fault, or claim victimization when a tragedy occurs is... well... tragic.

they've shot and killed ONE person in 4 years of paranoia....i'd say they are definetaly NOT overreacting and i cant see how anyone would think otherwise.
