With two days to go until the Oscars, here are my picks -

Best Picture - Argo
Best Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis
Best Actress - Jessica Chastain
Best Supporting Actor - Tommy Lee Jones
Best Supporting Actress - Anne Hathaway
Best Director - Steven Spielberg
Best Original Screenplay - Django Unchained/Quentin Tarantino
Best Adapted Screenplay - Argo/Chris Terrio

That said, I think that Life of Pi will win the most awards, based on its gorgeous cinematography and technical merit.

What are your picks?

I think Olga Fokycelf wins Best everything. I have no idea and don't much care.

Is it true that Terry Collins was nominated for best animated short?

Re: Oscars 2013

It's through cinema, Obama said, that "our children learn to open their imagination and dream just a little bigger and to strive every day to reach those dreams."

Especially Ted.

Re: Oscars 2013

Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Feb 25 2013 08:41 AM

This has to be the first time that the top six awards (Best Picture, Best Director and the four acting categories) all went to different films, right?

On Edit - Wrong. It happened as recently as 2006, and before that it happened in 1957 and 1953.

Re: Oscars 2013

i got 9 out of top 10 categories, missing only supporting actor. I thought it would be Bobby D, not another one for the deserving Waltz.

ARGO
Ang Lee
DDLewis
J.Lawrence
A.Hathaway
x- R.Deniro (Waltz)
screenplays - Django / Argo
Score - Pi
Song - Skyfall

Also got Foreign (Amour), Animation (Brave) and Doc (Sugarman). I would've won in a weighted pool, but in a straight up pool i missed most of the craft / shorts categories, so lost out.

Re: Oscars 2013

I enjoyed MacFarlane. Helped entertain me for what's otherwise usually a pretty boring 4 hours. (The wife had it on, otherwise I wouldn't have watched)

I'm old. Who the hell are any of these people. And why the hell wasn't Robert Redford or Gene Hackman presenting an award?

I got 17 of 21 in my office pool, missing winning by one (damn you, Ang Lee).
