I watched (for the first time!) It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World last night. The movie is 50 years old, but there are still a lot of surviving cast members:

Sid Caesar (90), Mickey Rooney (92), Jonathan Winters (87), Carl Reiner (90), and young Marvin Kaplan (85).

Born Monte Halperin, the son of Orthodox Jews in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Aug 1921

btw, how cool is it that this thread is right near the one titled; 'The Walking Dead'

Boo.

The MTM Show crew has been a resilient bunch, haven't they?

Ted Knight crossed over back in 1986, but Mary, Lou, Murray, Sue Ann, Georgette, Phyllis, Gordie, Bess, Marie, David, and (so far) Rhoda have kept bringing it.

The Dick Van Dyke show is doing okay too in that regard. Rob, Laura, Sally and Alan Brady are all still around. (Mel and Buddy are dead at the present time.)

In the MTM list... who's David??

I assume "David" was David Baxter, played by child actor Robbie Rist. He was the adopted son of Ted and Georgette, and appeared in 3 episodes.

Re: Guess Who's Still Alive 2013 Edition

Hey, that show quit with gas still in the tank. Don't blame the Rister. That kid carried Big John, Little John. Carried it.

And don't blame him for the Brady Bow-Out either, as the network had already opted not to renew the show before Cousin Oliver ever appeared.

Somebody's got to stand up for Robbie Rist around here, and if that's got to be me, then so be it.

when a show starts introducing cute tykes to spice things up a bit, its time for the actors to call their agents and line up the next gig.

I had Ms. Ponsot for a poetry class during my first shot at college. It was at Queens College, most likely in 1976.

I was watching on YouTube the other day the episode of Mr. Ed, where Ed harasses the town's new resident --- Hollywood hotshot Clint Eastwood --- because his new horse is getting on all the fillies, leading to comic hyjinx where Eastwood threatens to beat up Alan Young.

Still alive: Clint Eastwood.

Re: Guess Who's Still Alive 2013 Edition

Incredible to think about this, there is only one man alive that was born in the 1800's(1897)

Supercentenarian: Jiroemon Kimura, right, is the last man alive to have been born in the 19th century. Photo: AP

With the death in Barbados on Thursday of James Emmanuel ''Doc'' Sisnett, at the age of 113 years and 90 days, Jiroemon Kimura, of Japan, has become the last man alive to have been born in the 19th century.

Literally the last man. There are, according to the Gerontolgy Research Group at UCLA, 21 women born before New Year's Day, 1901, who are still with us, most of them living in the United States or Japan, with others in Europe and Canada.

But while the females born in the reign of Queen Victoria strongly outnumber him, Mr Kimura, born on April 19, 1897, has one record the girls can't match - not just yet, anyway. At 116, the ''supercentenarian'' is the oldest human on the planet.

Supercentenarians are people who have lived past their 110th birthday, and while it's estimated that there may be 200 or 300 living today, only 60-odd have been verified by reliable birth records. Of them only two, Mr Kimura and Japanese woman Misao Okawa, are known to be still living aged 115 or older.

Being born in the year 30 of the Meiji period, Mr Kimura has lived in the reigns of four emperors, and through the premierships of 61 Japanese prime ministers, from Matsukata Masayoshi to Shinzo Abe.

Mr Kimura retired in 1962 aged 65, after working for 45 years in the Japanese post office. He now lives in Ky?¯tango, Kyoto Prefecture, with his eldest son's widow, 83, and his grandson's widow, 59, and attributes his long life to eating small portions of food, and admits to spending most of his time ''in bed''.
