2013 IPP: Andrew Brown

This is the last one I'll start today. I'm trying to go more or less alphabetically, and if I've missed any A or B names, please feel free to start a thread for whoever I missed.

In days to come, I won't be at all offended if anyone else initiates some of these threads. In fact, the more the merrier.

As for Andrew Brown, I think he'll spend most of the season in Las Vegas. My guess is that Cowgill will earn, and retain a roster spot, and Brown will be a September guy and will fill in for the Mets if anyone goes on the DL.

Brown's name won't even come up during the 2013 season.

Brown's name won't come down all season... from the list of National League's top HR hitters!

Uh. Seriously his minor league numbers look great. I'm optimistic he gets into a productive RF platoon with either Byrd or Baxter and does some smashing.

I'm hoping he becomes a Flushing version of one of that endless stream of goateed white boys who come up for St. Loo without fanfare and end up playing three positions and OPSing .800.

380 PAs, .289/.338/.465, 15 HR, 46 RBI, 54 R, 39 XBH, time logged at both outfield corners and-- during one crazy day-game-after-night-game, when Terry's feeling frisky-- at first.

What starts in Vegas stays in Vegas. We'll barely see him at all this year.

I am reminded of Mayo Smith's less-than-encouraging encouragement to Wayne Comer:

"Wayne, I think you're going to hit .290 this year, but you're going to be doing it in Montgomery, Alabama."

Re: 2013 IPP: Andrew Brown

If Brown's name doesn't come up, I expect that will be because the season is going surprisingly well. He's our best bet for righthanded thump in the outfield.

That said, he's currently lunching with Mike Baxter on the terrace of the I'm Having a Mortifyingly Bad Spring Club.

.233 / .304 / .429 // .733 in 188 plate apps. Poor spring leads to him spending more time in Las Vegas where he terrorizes opponents like the giant toddler in Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.

On pace for 40+ homers! Just needs the ABs.

I'm feeling good about my pre-dic-shun too.
