Awesome irish - you are going to LOVE it! I've been shooting with the D7000, and it's a great camera. Some of the bells and whistles come in very handy (I especially like having the dual card slots. It's nice to be able to back up shots as you shoot, or to have a card in the camera while you're in the middle of uploading pictures from the other one). The big upgrade on the 7100 is supposed to be the stereo sound for the video, which is a nice feature. It's great in low light, and incredibly responsive - enjoy!

Another nice thing about the two card slots. I don't know whether you shoot in RAW (I don't yet - one day I'll tackle that), but if you do you can shoot one card in RAW and the other in JPEG.
