WBC Dominican team needs to chill the eff out?

Hey, hey, what about the Dominicans? Do they celebrate too much and need to chill? I've haven't seen a pitch of the WBC, but the idea of hot-doggy celebrations isn't bugging me at all. #morestrikeoutfistpumping #istillloveujosereyes

Jose Reyes, among others on the D.R. team, has been getting flak for this sort of thing for years and years, and yet it's those very qualities that have made him such a pleasure to watch. Said Dickey of Reyes on Wednesday, "I can't think of a better teammate that I've ever had. He's that good. In the clubhouse he's always smiling, and it's not fake, it's not manufactured. That's just an overflow of who he is, and it's fun." Mets fans will back Dickey up there, and after this season, it's likely Toronto fans will too.

BASEBALL needs to chill the F out.

Gimme more cartwheels and shi'. (Trumpets and drums, too. Burn ALL the airhorns, though.)

In Miami, dozens are reported dead after a spontaneous and toxic airhorn burnoff. Officials are reluctant to release a specific death toll, but are quick to blame a Bronx-based baseball fan posting on the Internet.

At my house, the "bath-salt-intoxicated white python" means something else totally different.

When I get more time, I want to see want assess the strength of a West Indies baseball line-up (Caribbean islands plus Venezuela) , as in cricket where they field a collective team. I imagine they will be close to unbeatable in baseball.

I'd like the World Baseball Classic be played every other year in one week...the second week of July in the USA...That replaces the All Star Game.... A Baseball "World Cup" feel...

There was a time when it seemed like you could have fielded a WBC winning baseball team just from the city of San Pedro de Macoris in the DR.
From Wiki (yeah, I know, but its pretty close if not 100 % accurate):
Players from the city with at least 400 games played or 250 innings pitched in the Major Leagues include:

Manny Alexander
Joaquín Andújar
George Bell
Daniel Cabrera
Robinson Canó
Héctor Carrasco
Rico Carty
Luis Castillo
Starlin Castro
Jesús Colomé
Johnny Cueto
Mariano Duncan
Tony Fernández
Pepe Frías
Pedro González
Pedro Guerrero
José Jiménez
Manny Jiménez
Manuel Lee
Josías Manzanillo
Guillermo Mota
José Offerman
Rafael Ramírez
Ben Rivera
Juan Samuel
Julio Santana
Alfonso Soriano
Sammy Sosa
Fernando Tatís
Salomón Torres
José Valverde

Re: WBC Dominican team needs to chill the eff out?

So here's the thing. i work in an office building which houses the DR embassy. They're on the 4th floor. I'm on the 7th. It is common that a group of Dominicans will get on the elevator with me in the morning, and they will stare at the buttons as if the numerals were in Klingon. In order to move things along, i'll just reach over and push the 4th floor button, and they are grateful. Then the elevator stops on the 4th floor and, despite the elevator, showing a "4", and the signs on the floor indicating "4", they have no idea what to do, so I'll say "quatro" and they'll look surprised and get off, looking around as if it were the emerald city. While stopped there on 4, some other Dominicans will start to get on the elevator and i'll have to announce that we're going up (pointing up), despite the colored light indicators above the door that shows the elevator is going up.

For all my services on their behalf, the DR embassy gives me (and all the other residents of the building providing similar services to the embassy guests) not a brass farthing. which is fine, i guess. It's really a very minor inconvenience to shepherd the "quatros", as they are referred to, through our complex elevating system on a daily basis. But it does raise a question. Does the number of hurricanes that blast through the Caribbean each season keep buildings in the DR to relatively short heights, making elevators rare and exotic birds there? I'm just wondering.

I think my friend worked at that same building for many years...he worked at Devlin Video (or whatever it later became). He had stories too.

As the saying goes, they don't walk off the island. Apparently they don't take elevators off the island either.
