I'd stake the family ranch on under.

Re: Vegas Props

I'd take the over. He won 20 games for a bad team and now he pitches for a very good team.

Re: Vegas Props

PLUS plus, he's likely to get a few extra 7ths and 8ths and 9ths out on the mound, without the pitcher's-spot mid-game PHing dilemma.

Barring weird-ass injury, he should be able to pitch significantly worse than last season, and still come out of it with 15-16 wins.

Re: Vegas Props

I would think all David would have to do is stay healthy and he would make that number by accident..

Re: Vegas Props

Staking the family ranch on a 38-year-old pitcher seems like a bad bet on any day.

I'll take the Ike Davis bet.

This is the site I use anyway.

Mets 74.5
Marlins 63.5
Jays 88.5
Astros 59.5 ouch.

40:1 for Ike to win the HR title.
25:1 for Wright and MVP
33:1 for Santana and the Cy Young
50:1 for Niese

He'll also be pitching to fewer pitchers and pitching around fewer 8 hitters.

MINUS minus: astroturf.

Does he gain anything by pitching half his games in a domed environment?

no Dodgers on that list either. I think they're confused.

I imagine that dome will be more typically open.

Dome also counteracts the Magnus Effect because it shuts out the humidity. But the lack of grass & soil is the biggie. Grass & soil attract a lot of moisture. Moisture does strange things to the flight of a baseball and knucklers rely on it.

Compare the Grass/Artificial splits of your favorite knucklers; They all invariably have worse S/BB splits on astroturf. E.g. Niekro's was negligible: 1.86/1.80, Wakefield's horrible: 1.89/1.43. The reason stems from the fact that when their knuckleball stops moving they are forced to start nibbling the corners of the plate. Also that pitch Dickey throws that starts off outside the strikezone and creeps-in will be a BB over astroturf more often.

I try to typically err on the side of losing, but I'm taking the over at 74 1/2.
