Memories of Elvin Ramirez

Elvin Ramirez, who didn't look much like an elf at all, to my eyes, until recently qualified both for the "All-Time, All-Mets Team" and the "Fringe Prospects for Sale" threads. Now, just 20 games into his career, he has graduated from both to the "Wish You Were Here: Continuing Careers of Ex-Mets in 2013" thread, as he has been sold to the Angels, who were no doubt reading the forum and spotted that second thread.

Mrs. MD and I wish him and his fringe mustache well.

Was warming up in pen as Johan Santana prepared to pitch the 9th on June 1, 2012. Would've been his MLB debut. Glad he had to wait.

When we were goofing off with Frank2 as the named but ineffective closer, thought Terry should have been crazy enough to just name this guy instead and see what happens. I think any hard thrower has a chance to get 30 saves in the right situation, so I won't exclude the possibility he gets the save in the allstar game. That'll show Terry.

Re: Memories of Elvin Ramirez

The guy walked 20 guys in 21 innings, too reminiscent of the hard-throwing guy scouts watched for too many years in the minors waiting for him to put it all together.

I wish that number was more anomolous, but I think they have reason to believe he'll never have enough control to be effective.

I expected more of a wake for Elvin.

I take it he'll be walking to Angels camp? Because that would be appropriate.
