IGT - Mets v. Phils - 4.10.13

Hefner (pretty douchy himself) versus Kendrick.

Would be nice to start the season with three series wins.

Jordany Valdespin – CF
Daniel Murphy – 2B
David Wright – 3B
Ike Davis – 1B
John Buck – C
Lucas Duda – LF
Mike Baxter – RF
Ruben Tejada – SS
Jeremy Hefner – RHP

Lookit that aesthetically perfect lineup.

Starts with a long name like "Jordany Valdespin," regresses incremenatally down to "Ike Davis," and then progresses incrementally back up toward "Jeremy Hefner."

We can't lose.

WAKE UP! There's sometimes exciting Harvey observations between starts.

Harvey had at least 9ks in his first two starts this season, 3rd pitcher in Met history to do that along with David Cone (1992) and Pedro Martinez (2005).

Harvey opens the season with consecutive starts in which he lasted at least 7 innings and allowed 3 or fewer hits. Only one other Met pitcher has done that. Nolan Ryan in 1970.

Non Harvey news:
The Mets have hit a homer in every game (7) so far this season. The 1987 squad holds that record with 8.

I initially thought the same thing even though it was just the second inning. At least do something there with the bases bloated. Squeeze?
Then I thought, after the first two strikes, at least make him throw a lot of pitches, and he did make him throw a few after that. Valde did make him work.

And now Hef does not look like he will find it in himself to be effective tonight.

How about we trade Buck before the AS break (lets say he has 15 to 17 hr by then) and get something we need. But how much will he be worth to another team? I'd want to get a prime piece but I don't think we get that.

Ordinarily, I'd root for a rain-out. But with these Mets' prospects, I'd just as soon they get it over with. Like I wanna see Hefner pitch an extra turn.

And he lets the ump know, as he walks away, that he better also give that pitch to our guy on the mound. That's something you can also do Ike. Say something loud, let the ump know you disagree, as you JWA. AS you are walking away. Okay, including my other wisecracks from other IGTs thats all the ways to do it. Lessons over.

Yes it was Brown. And they asked Charlie if it bothered him. He said when he first came up (70s?) that stuff just didn't happen. Now, he says, players do it all the time, so it's not an issue with him. He stated that its not an issue with him but if his pitcher considers it an issue, then it becomes an issue.
lol. I love listening to Charlie in press conferences.
