Wow, two Phillies needed to hold back the monster known as Kevin Elster. That's badass. Or maybe Kevin was holding onto two Phillies.......which is slightly more embarrassing.

And the thing about Dibble is that he's still an asshole 24 years after that day!

He seems rather proud of that though, which makes him a bigger asshole.

I kept picturing this glasses-wearing base coach when I saw the younger version tear off after that dickface, Dibble. Puts the 'tough' in Teufel, for sure.

PS - who's calling the action with Fran? And seeing as how Teufel went from a 107+ OPS in the first half of '89 to an 86+ in the second half, can we all agree the beanball and fight totally wrecked his CAHN-fidence?

Best part about fights is the glorious challenge of guys playing out of position after the ejections are all tallied:

Play only Keith makes there at the end. 3-5-4 DP on a bunt.

Re: Teufel v. Dibble

Yeah, that was gorgeous. Points to Carter for staying home from the top, stretching like a firstbaseman, and seeing the play he still had at first. Nice stretch by Teufel at the end.

Twenty-five years later, it's still a play only Keith makes.

Bottom line is when Mr. Redlegs messes with Mr. Met, Mr. Redlegs gets fucked up.

Yeah, I'm biased, probably. Yeah, I've got two Keith shirts, a Starting Lineup figure or three, and a billion Keithcards.

But, yeah, screw your Gehrigs and Terrys, your Pipps and Pujolses, and even your Olys-- best defensive firstie EVER.

Re: Teufel v. Dibble

The thing is that Olerud or Hrbek refined their games until, for a while at least, they were excellent to near perfect at everything a firstbaseman was supposed to do. But Keith --- and perhaps this speaks to the mental restlessness that he displays in the booth --- insisted on finding a way to do things a firstbaseman wasn't supposed to do.
