managed to do mine early this year, mostly because the wife decided to send them to a family friend of hers so I didn't even have to do the 30 minutes of Turbo Tax work myself. Ended up owning a ton. yay paying the government!

I calculated mine back in early February. When I realized I wasn't getting a huge return, I waited until mid-March to actually file.

In 2009, I received a letter from the IRS asking me why I had not filed a tax return since 2002.

I usually file in February.

Of course, NYS never sends you your refund before April 1, no matter when you file. They want to earn that extra quarter's interst.

Not true -- I filed both federal and state taxes in early February and got my refunds a few weeks later.

Same here, except when I realized I had to pay, I decided to wait until Monday to do so.

Filed the Federal taxes electronically weeks ago...I waited until this morning to snail mail the State taxes...they've been done for awhile but purposely wait on the state ones to stagger the returns since the wife likes to spend money as soon as it comes in...
