This is gonna be a great . I'm so glad to hear Harvey , as opposed to giving the stock cliche answers, says he's excited and looking foward to this matchup. May the best man w....hmmm, be wearing orange and blue!

It seems impossible that there would be more weather problems this week, but then again...

National Weather Service Forecast wrote:
Thunderstorms before 8pm, then showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8pm. Low around 52. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Ron with a great little nugget about Tom Gorman and how he used to shake of Carter, they used to call him Gorfax because he liked to talk up his own game like he was Koufax, " ok Gary, this is for a fastball, this is the sign for a slider, yyybbb", "just throw it Tom,I'll catch it".

Not totally true.
Strasburg was rare for a 1st round draft pick (and especially a 1/1 pick) in that he wasn't even drafted out of HS.
Only after going to SD State did he make a commitment to get himself in shape and eventually blossomed into not only a top pick but probably one of the most ballyhooed picks of the last decade or more.

Broadcast suggested the same. I don't know if I buy that necessarily, but it could be the idea that the buzz was what drew people to the park, not something that happened to those that happened to be there.

Apr 19 2013 08:31 PM
Re: Back in the New York Groove! IGT 4/19/13 - Nationals @

A little of both is necessary, though. A buzz that brings a promise of an event and the team absolutely delivering on that promise.

I dunno, Friday night, back from a road trip, division rival, aces matching up, division rival is the defending champ, Davey Johnson in the opposing dugout, a legend like Gooden in the house, and the team utterly dominates, with just enough drama in the seventh to make it exciting, before absolutely pulling away.

All the key bats contribute. The slumbering slugger wakes up. A goofy but harmless thing like Marlon Byrd heading to first on ball three. Good news coming in from outside the park. You can't deliver on the buzz any better.

Mets = America
