Shaun Marcum is scheduled to throw up to 75 pitches on Monday and, assuming all goes well, will be on track to make his ML season debut on Saturday vs the Phillies at Citifield

Marcum for Saturday

I was thinking more like "Gee for President".
But this thread title is encouraging, too.

Re: Marcum for Saturday?

5 scoreless innings and 52 pitches for Marcum in an extended Spring game, an outing which most likely puts him in line for the start vs Philly on Saturday, probably with a 90-pitch or so limit.

Considering the Phillies are 4th from the bottom in walks, that might be just fine to get through the game.

Who's he pitching against, though? Buncha rehabbers and guys waiting for the short season to start mostly, right?

Yeah, we can't read much from the results. Just that he was able to throw 75 pitches.

as long as he wakes up with his arm working today, I imagine that means we're ago for Saturday.

Until he proves he's healthy, hell yes I'd trade Marcum for Saturday. Strength up the middle is key.

Didn't Saturday retire recently?

Yup. His last action of note was lining up as Peyton Manning's center in the Pro Bowl for one play despite wearing a Packers uniform because he was meant to go out that way...or something like that, as I happened to flip by the Pro Bowl at exactly that moment and didn't stay tuned.
