Oh, I've been to that site. Love his work. I followed a link there and got lost there for like 30 mins. Still only viewed a tiny fraction of his cards. OE: He's the guy who had the decent color pic of the 62 Mets, and he colored that himself.

Who is the only Mets player that can be next (after Segui) in the following sequence: Tucker Ashford completes (or continues) this sequence. Tucker was the 11th Met player to appear in a game wearing uniform #11. Richie Ashburn was the first Met to wear #1. Jimmy Piersall (pictured in #34) was the second Met to be issued uniform #2. Tim Harkness was the third Met to wear #3. Ed Kranepool wore #7 for almost two decades; thus the almost 20 year gap between Lou Klimchock, the sixth Met #6, and Kevin Mitchell, the seventh #7.

Tucker came up just today in a UMDB fan memory. Tucker comes up late in the game, after having made a couple of errors and striking out at the plate. The fan in front of me, a heavy man who was clearly inebriated, starts letting Tucker have it "You are the worst excuse of a player ever to play in the majors.....You'll be out of the game by midseason...etc.." It was a really quiet crowd and everyone was feeling uncomfortable, including us - I mean what did Tucker do to the fan? And, this is only spring training. So, Tucker is at the plate with the fan heckling incessantly, and, you guessed it, Tucker rips a hard single up the middle. The crowd goes wild!! Everybody is letting the drunk fan have it. Even Bobby Valentine, the 3rd base coach, asks the heckling fan, who is quietly staring straight ahead, what he thinks of Tucker now. However, before a pitch is even thrown to the next batter, TUCKER GETS PICKED OFF 1ST BASE! The drunk fan stands up and screams "I REST MY CASE!" and leaves the ballpark as the entire stadium is howling in laughter. In 40 years of going to baseball games, I have never seen anything funnier! I am still in contact with one of the friends I went to the park with that day and we still laugh about it. Stay strong Tucker, hope you are well! Thanks for the memory.

Tucker Ashford replaced Hubie Brooks as the starting third baseman 30 years ago tonight. Accompanying Ashford up from Tidewater: right fielder Darryl Strawberry.

Weren't we just talking about this in another thread? It's funny, this Strawberry debut game I will always associate with my taking the SATs the next morning. I heard last Friday's (similarish) big win while visiting family, except for my 16 year old nephew who stayed home because he had SATs Saturday morning.
