IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor
Edgy MD May 25 2013 05:53 PM |
We're in the the bottom of the second inning, and there's no score, and no thread, and that's what we call Metsapathy.

2-out, no one on, 8 & 9 spots coming up ... sounds like the perfect time for a five run rally!!
|
Edgy MD May 25 2013 07:03 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
No kudos for yielding about 17 straight two-out hits in the fifth, giving the Braves a 5-0 lead.

Without GKR, this team is unwatchable....

Not enough to outsex Mike Nickeas, Anthony. You need to outhit him, too.

Howie and Josh talking up Gee's future as a reliever. Completely hopeless the 3rd time through a lineup but not so bad the first time through.

Edgy MD May 25 2013 07:15 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
Lewin going on about damage control, underscoring how Gee has pitched as well as most in most of his innings. His problem is that where others might have the occasional one- or two-run innings, Gee gives up five-run innings.

Perfect, schmerfict. Stop serving up the meatballs.

Robert Carson's one "value-added" thing: he doesn't break when the other guys hit liners literally off of him. (The downside-upshot? He continues to pitch when the other guys hit liners literally off of him.)

I get why there are napkins and wrappers out there blowing around in center.
|
Edgy MD May 25 2013 07:54 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
Josh Lewin reads the MLB "rebroadcast, retransmission" warning, and caps it with, "And honestly, if you're going to be disseminating, I don't know why you'd choose this one."
|

Good Lord, do I hope those people with the wrappers got DISCOUNTED stress-eats.

Edgy MD May 25 2013 08:08 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
Valdespin getting plunked on the hand. That's what this game needed.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 25 2013 08:09 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
Not really. Knob job, on par with the broadcast and the game in general.
|
Edgy MD May 25 2013 08:13 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
How's about not gettng shut out over 11 innings today?

"Hey. HEY! Watch it."

John Cougar Lunchbucket May 25 2013 08:19 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
The numbers are there, sorta, and it's way down the list of problems, but I dunno if I can even remember David Wright having one of those big killer David Wright Games this year.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 25 2013 08:23 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
There was a 2-HR game, I think.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 25 2013 08:24 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
That's like 40% of his HRs right there. See if I've forgotten that game, I've forgotten a lot.

could also be the defense. i.e. when a pitcher's a little off and yielding more balls in play a good defense might convert them into outs (a swifter LFer, though Duda wasn't horrible on it, probably dives and makes the catch limiting it to 2 runs)
|
Edgy MD May 25 2013 08:34 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
It could be. I just see pitchers working without a net.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 25 2013 08:37 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
Twelve games under before Memorial Day, looking worse if you watch the games, with regression from presumed bedrock players, and-- talk about lacking even cold consolation-- this team is likely not getting either of the top two draft picks next year.
|
Edgy MD May 25 2013 08:46 PM Re: IGT, 5/25, in the Key of Gee Minor |
Seemed like they were only six games under six games ago.

if you aren't going to win, you might as well lose bad...mediocrity does not yield good draft picks (although, it does make you wonder how the Braves/Cards are almost always in playoff contention; yet still almost always have some of the best farm systems)...

I'll die before I root for a team to do worse to get a better draft position.

come on, there's nothing better than spending September hoping David Wright strikes out in big spots so the Mets lose and the pimply teenager we choose might help the Mets win game in 2017 more than that other pimply teenager we'd get if Wright homers in that spot.
