Modern-day Tom and Huck find a vagabond living on a river island. When he turns out to be a fugitive, they agree to run errands between him and the mainland, and act as go-betweens for him in his mysterious relationship with his mysterious girlfriend.

Come on. I can't be the only one with muddy underpants.

So who would have guessed that the flick where Matthew McConaughey plays a homeless fugitive who lives on a river island is the one where he has his shirt ON most of the time?

It was a lucky shirt! They probably wrote that into the screenplay to keep him dressed as production continued.

But did he live in a van down by the river?

No, nothing like that. He lived in a boat down by the river. And the boat was in a tree.
Yeah I did. Little bit of mystery and interesting characters to it, anchored by teens who have been let down by most of the older folk around them. Reminded me a bit of Juno in that last regard even though a totally different flick.

I saw it and liked it. A few plot holes (f'ristance the mother had lived on the river her whole life but had never met someone or remembered anyone who looked like Matthew McConaughey who lived right across the river?) but great performances by both kids, MMcC and Sam Shepard. Better movie than DALLAS BUYER'S CLUB.
