Our third baseman is better than theirs, and our second baseman strikes out a lot less. Oh, and our backup catcher is dreamy. Their three catchers look look the guys on Duck Dynasty shaved.

Re: Braves @ Mets 5/26

Luvly 4-3-6 with Simmons running on a 3-2 pitch. No issue with Murphy's timing here - he quick-released a backhand flip that Robbie Alomar would have been happy with. Nice stretch by Ike on the back end as well.

Oh, and our second baseman - at least our current second baseman - can catch a routine pop-up.

Thats bullshit. He dropped the ball before Duds bat hit his glove.

Not only do Mets batters fail with runners in scoring position, they prevent runners from advancing into scoring position in a multitude of ways.

Wright takes charge on the wind blown pop up to short left. Nice play but throws it away trying to double up Uggs. Man on 2nd, 2 out.

Is Duds useless? I know it was blown around but he was no where near that ball.

Yeah, it's a career performance, but some margin for error would really, really help.

(And Tejada allows a baserunner.)

No way to see that one coming, eh?

Amazing how the small margin for error just magnifies each mistake one or more of which will eventually come back and bite them.
Murph getting picked off, Duda allowing a single to become a double, Tejada turning a ground out into a single, ...

And now we've turned this into a battle of bullpens and those rarely end well for us.

Re: Braves @ Mets 5/26

They have a good pen.

But yeah, the domino effect that comes from the batting struggles seems to be a pig ugly pile. And Davis has been the big domino.

I mean, I knew that they'd win again, someday, but man, it was getting hard to feel it.

Parnell biting down hard on that bullpen ace job may just be the second best news this season.

1. Harvey
2. Parnell
3. Murphy, I guess.
4. ... uh... Duda, maybe

slim pickings huh?

I'll put Duda second, just because he actually had a bad year last year.
Then Murphy remaining steady at second and putting up Murphy numbers.
Then Parnell's continued improvement.

I don't even know where to go from there though. Buck's good first two weeks? Baxter being a mostly serviceable 4th OF type? Hefner showing that he's a pretty useful 5th/spot starter type?

Re: Braves @ Mets 5/26

Considering the amount of money spent in the last decade on relatively unreliable closers, I'd say the notion that we may have developed a homegrown one is pretty damn nice. That may be some serious dough and not a small amount of mental energy going in a different direction over the next few years.

true, but I was expecting/confident in Parnell off of last year. So it's down there with "Wright's still awesome" on my list of good news. But having an actual trustworthy option the bullpen IS very nice.
