Wow, Laggy waited real nice on that curve and doubles to the gap. Ike, who walked, scored by doing something around the bases that was a little faster than his walking.

Mets up, 1-0

I shouldn't make fun of Davis on the bases. He had to chugAchug to go from 1st to home.

Brantly singles so there goes that.

Fish tie the game by doing fishy things in the Mets general direction.

67-69 from 2006 thru today to be exact. That complaint is more accurate if you just go from 2009 to present: 44-37 which is exactly half of an 88-win season pace

But this team is something completely different (and not in a Monty Python way).
They're en-route to maybe challenging for the worst single-season record ever, yet when we see them they're not only winning but usually look good in doing so. They hit our guys including Harvey who nobody else hits; their pitchers shut us down completely, they run, they play D, and they take advantage of every break we give them. And this is the 10th game of the season already so it's not like we're talking about just one series.
Hell, the Cardinals didn't look this good against us, neither did the Reds and lord knows the Yanx didn't either.

They ain't gonna break no 1962 Mets records. There's talent on this team, if under-ripe. Was nothing on the 1962 Mets like this pitcher Miami threw at us today.

Meanwhile and ominously unexpected exit for Harvey...

Probably not, but their results whether it be their record (worst), hitting (worst by a lot), or pitching (bottom five) don't resemble the team we've seen ten times now so far.

Re: IGT 6/8 Marlins vs Mets "Rain Rain Go Away"

Seemed to be a festival of bad execution.

Pierre, who I imagine is one of the top ten sac-bunters of all time, faked out his own runner by pulling the ball back so late. Buck almost lost the runner hung out there by throwing before he committed to a base. Then neither the lead runner worked to give the trailing runner as much time to break as possible, nor did the trailing runner break at all.

Re: IGT 6/8 Marlins vs Mets "Rain Rain Go Away"

Ok, to give my brief story of this game.
5.50 pm, ask here is it likely to be on, ye say yes.
MRS is in bed having nap,
3.5 year old daughter watching "Sofia the 1st" on TV
3 month old daughter snoozing.
So, I'm tidying the kitchen and the like while watching the game.
6.45 visitors call to drop off a few bits, stop watching.
7.00 visitors gone, cooking dinner for the 3.5 year old (I say 3.5 she's almost 4 actually)
7.20 3.5 month old daughter eating dinner (penne with a ragu) I'm prepping bottle etc for 8pm feed
7.35 Far better half up,
7.50 start feed a few early, move to watching game on Apple TV
8.40 finished feed, bigger one is in bed.
9pm start prepping our own dinner, herself's working on computer so turn it off in main room and back on the iPad.
9.30 dinner ready to eat, turn off game.
10.30 finished dinner and come back in to tidy kitchen while herself gets back to work
GAME STILL ON??????????
11.25, started prepping next feed.

SERIOUSLY. It'd be one thing if the game STARTED at a feed, like the 7pm ET ones do, but the game was 1.45 IN when I started the little lady's last feed. I'll be starting another one in about 35 mins!!
What are the chances?

The offensive incompetence is just stunning.
15 base-runners from the 9th thru 18th innings, a bunch of them reaching 2nd with no or one outs, and not one of them scored.
You can't even script a run of failure that bad.

Also bring up Puleo and Flores. I don't care where they play, just get their fucking bats in the lineup.
(OK, Kirk in center , Puleo in left - Flores to first. Move Ike to Las Vegas to get his shit together and Duda to the bench.)

Re: IGT 6/8 Marlins vs Mets "Rain Rain Go Away"

Looking at the P-b-P data from yesterday [u:7upjpxsg]just for the potential game-winning ABs[/u:7upjpxsg] --9th inning or later with a runner on 2nd and/or 3rd-- IOW: without even getting into the times where an extra-base hit or, obviously, a HR would win the game, just those where maybe only a single or, in some cases, a good enough out would win the game.

9th inning -- K, BB, GO
10th -- Foul Out
12th -- Fly Out, Fly Out/DP
13th -- Foul Out, K
14th -- Ground Out
15th -- K, K
17th -- Fly Out, Pop-Out, K
18th -- K, Foul Out

So not only is that 0-15 (plus a walk) w/RiSP ABs [u:7upjpxsg]just in game-winning situations alone[/u:7upjpxsg] (they were 0-19 overall) but only three times did they even manage to get the ball out of the infield (all Fly-Outs) and they were clever enough to turn those three into four outs.
The other 12 RiSP ABs produced a stunning TWO ground-outs, FOUR infield pop-outs (three of them foul), and SIX Ks

We have a new definition of the word Pathetic
