Organizational Sweeps of 2013

In MLB play, Mets 2, Yankees 1

In the Pacific Coast League, Las Vegas 9, Salt Lake 7. Three hits came from Omar Quintanilla, who is hitting .331 in 45 games. Maybe even a bigger surprise is latebloomer Francisco Pena, who went 2-3 with both of his hits leaving the yard. He's been a Buckmonster since joining AAA, going .385 / .407 / .885 // 1.292 in eight games since his callup to AAA.

In the Eastern League, B-Mets 6, Portland 5. The Bees scored twice in the fifth and once in every inning htereafter to take it in walkoff style, as Josh Rodriguez came home on a wild pitch in the ninth. Alan Dykstra had three hits, including two doubles and a homer.

In the Florida State League... nobody played.

In the South Atlantic League, Savannah 4, Greenville 1. Gabriel Ynoa goes eight, striking out six and walking nobody.

MLB
New York Mets off.

Pacific Coast League (AAA)
Las Vegas 5, Memphis 2
Francisco Peņa hit a three-run homer, Wilmer Flores prepared for his promotion by playing both first and third, and that dopey Jordany Valdespin served game one of his suspension. Chris Schwinny gets the win with six innings, giving up two runs, one earned, walking one and whiffing one. Lucas Duda walked in his only appearance.

Eastern League (AA)
Binghamton Mets off.
That dopey Cesar Puello gets no game credited to his suspension.

Florida State League (A+)
St. Lucie Mets off.
Team sits a half game out of first in the Southern Division.

South Atlantic League (A)
Savannah 6, Charleston 0
A great game as (1) Luis Cessa is absolutely dominant, pitching eight innings and striking out 12, while walking none and allowing only four hits, and (2) Brandon Nimmo went 3-4 with a double, homerun.

New York-Penn League (SS A+)
Brooklyn Cyclones off.
You'd think they'd make sure a game was scheduled when the Mets were off.

Applachian League (SS A)
Kingsport Mets off.
I don't like Mondays.

Gulf Coast League (R)
GCL Mets 7, GCL Marlins 0.
I don't like Mondays.
RHP Octavio Acosta: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 4 K

Amazin' Avenue calls Luis Cessa the star of the night and I concur.

SWEEP! A cheap sweep, but... SWEEP!

Re: Organizational Sweeps of 2013

Flores was originally penciled in to start the Las Vegas game at first base. Just before the start of the game, he and Lutz (originally to start at third) switched positions. It wasn't until the sixth inning that the official scorer noticed, and that's why the box score reflects Wilmer and Lutz playing both positions.
