Lost in the sweep was a pretty rare accomplishment by the Yankees --- against the Mets or anybody. IN the Mets 9-4 win on Wednesday, Ivan Nova pitched only the fiftieth immaculate inning --- striking out the side on nine pitches --- on record in MLB history. (I imagine some are out there that have been lost to time.)
The Mets have pulled the feat off twice. Nobody is known to have ever struck out four batters in an inning on 12 pitches.
Three guys have pulled it off twice, and they're pretty much the first three guys you'd probably guess.
