winning teams tend to do well in the votings, regardless of each player's results...Giants/Reds/Cards/Braves have most of their players in the top spots...

Yes, but historically, there usually is some bump for host teams, right?

yes, because most of this voting is done by those fringe "Oh! Baseball is exciting this summer? cool!" fans not the diehards. The voting is a travesty across the board every year. I've lost all ability to care. I love the game and all that, but MLB makes sure the best players are represented with a pretty good accuracy rate, so whatever.

Perhaps the voting is a proxy for actual fannies in the seats tickets used turnstile count attendance figures.

I wonder what the numbers are, but I doubt most ballots are cast in person.

That may have once been true, but probably not since they started internet voting.

Braves fans had heard that they got an Upton...they just didn't know which one (and Kate wasn't on the ballot)...

Cursed Pablo Sandoval. It's that bloody cute nickname of his.

Kinda ranted about this after a blogger ranted for anarchy by voting for Colin Cowgil

It's "writing" a wrong?

I'd agree that fans want to feel involved and included, especially in this social media world.

1. It is when the webmaster is as bad at copy editing as the writer is on deadline... 2. Good point, but I wanted to note that, even with the commercialization, (IIRC, wasn't Gillette the sponsor even back when it returned in 1970?) it still promotes fan interaction.

Whenever I'm not sure, I use the he/him rule to determine whether the proper word is "who" or "whom". Thus, I would pretend that I've answered a question and then form the actual question to my supposed answer -- actually two forms of the same question -- a "he" version and a "him" version. Then I'd determine which of the variations is the proper form: 1. Is it a big deal if he starts? and then 2. Is it a big deal if him starts? If the "he" version is proper -- then the proper word is "who". If it's "him", then it's "whom". ... so "Nor should it really be that big of a deal with who starts, which is the reason for this campaign in the first place". Me -- I could use some occasional help with colons and semi-colons. Sometimes, I don't give a shit and will just throw one of the two down all willy-nilly without any regard for whatever consequences may unfold.

Voted at least 40 times tonight. Just kept the window open and every few commercials id vote a bunch. Once you get to that window with the cryptacrap you can stay there all day and vote over and over. Ill leave it up and vote some more again b4 I crash tonight.

And if you close the window and go back there, your votes are saved. Pretty kool beans. 60 votes for Wright and Murphy, and I was forced to vote for all the other positions and leagues. The price I had to pay :)

Who seems like a nice enough guy, but I'd probably vote Votto for first base.
