Game one gets underway mid-day. If you missed the midnight train last night, find yourself close to an electronic informational device this afternoon. That is all.

For now.

Also per Rubin:

Zack Wheeler (DOB: May 30, 1990) will become the first player born in the 1990s to appear in the majors with the Mets.

The Mets and Braves are poised to become the first teams to have three games completed on the same calendar date since the Cincinnati Reds on Aug. 23, 1996.

The kicker about the Reds that day is that they did it in two different cities.
After completing a delayed game in Atlanta on the night/morning of Aug 22/23, they then flew to Miami for a DH.

I'd rather have him catching Wheeler, both for his own health as well as his "veteranness' behind the plate.

Between the walks, the K's, the foul-offs, and the deep-counts, this Wood guy has thrown around 75 pitches thru 3 innings yet the Mets have only hit six, or maybe seven, fair balls so far.

But yes, the count is high. And Terry will have thoughts of Johan Santana in his head if this continues.

Also, it's only a 2-0 lead, with a guy who's had 8 no-decisions in his last 10 starts while pitching brilliantly. Terry didn't trust the bullpen last night and it cost him. If he DOES trust the bullpen, it could cost him, too.

High Anxiety indeed.

Some misinformation from Gary and Ron. They said the last pitcher with a career ERA under 2.30 after his first 25 starts was Dwight Gooden. Not true. Dwight's ERA after 25 starts was 3.02. The same digits, though, just in a different order. Someone with dyslexia at Elias?

Only one hard hit ball this inning (Simmons) but one walk plus two with tricky hops that could only get turned into one out total despite force plays all around.

Terry not only sent Harvey back out after he already had accumulated 100+ pitches, he allowed Harvey to hit with 2 on and 2 out the inning before, just so he could make that questionable move, thus making it even less justifiable.

No, Terry just made the decision to send out the guy who did, after the game situation had arisen where it was clearly time to pinch hit for him and Terry chose not to.
