Wheels On: A Call to Arms IGT, Pt. II: 6/18/2013

Edgy MD
Jun 18 2013 02:32 PM

What you're likely going to see: the debut of Mets pitching prospect Zack Wheeler.

What you're possibly going to see: the return of Mets veteran relief pitcher Scott Atchinson.

What I hope you see: more of the former than the latter.

Screw all that. We're going to see Anthony Recker squatting with his britches drawn tight across his voluptuous derriere, his hair tousled when he tosses off his mask and helmet to clutch, ever so tenderly, a pop-up, and the gleam in his eye when he tells his pitcher, with nothing but a look, that everything is going to be fine. Just fine.

If this guy could hit they'd have to show the games on Cinemax.

Recker sent out to the mound to calm Wheeler down. Like that's gonna work.

The movement and velocity seem strong, but the location is all over the place. Upton helps him out by chasing ball three before bouncing out to Wright.

yikes.

I remember when that happened to Scott Erikson (still younger than Atchison I believe)

Mel Brooks is younger than Atchison.

I like this Wheeler guy.

We're in Florida this week. We went to see the Marlins and Cardinals on Saturday, and Wheeler's trade-mate hit two homers.

Went to see St. Lucie Mets last night, with den Dekker leading off.

I'm getting quite sick of these Braves and their infield choppers.
Those two from Uggla in game one, the bunt-chopper that started this inning, and that one just there from Heyward that prevented any chance of a DP or even a force play. It's one thing if it's intentional but these are obviously not.

They've somehow done it with half a lineup all year. Maybe it's the rest of the division all not having their shit together.

Talk about the breaks. If Valvaro kicks that ball to a fielder, we're in the bottom of the inning with Aardsma or somebody and hanging on by the skin of our teeth.

They are because of their starting pitching.
Erratic in a lot of other places though. Very hit-n-miss offense and, like I said a few posts ago, their pen isn't nearly as deep as what we've been used to in recent years, particularly from the left side.
