Battle of pitchers hungry for wins. Chicago's John Danks is 1-4 with a 5.40 ERA. New York's Shaun Marcum is 0-9 wiht a 5.76 ERA. That's one dream-ass matchup, my friends. Make sure you post in the right thread. This is the right thread, isn't it?

Was just staring a shlub in row one who was in focus behind the dugout for every righty in our righty heavy lineup. Just as I'm thinking, "How does that shlub get those seats?" two cutie-pie young woman walk down the aisle, look at him, look at their tickets, than look from one to the other in the classic "I don't want to say you're in our seats, but you're in our seats," manner.

Talking about that built in third base line (guys are)..what would that be made from? Wouldn't it be a different surface than dirt? I don't think that is proper.

If you are not getting the SNY feed: The Guys pointed out the the first baseline in drawn on the dirt like usual, but the third baseline embedded in the ground, and they just have to dust off the dirt to make it visible before the game. I imagine is must be made of hard rubber (like a pitchers rubber). Wouldn't that surface result in a different kind of bounce than what you would get on dirt? I can understand lesser levels using this type of thing, but not at the MLB level.

Cutie-pie young women still in the front row, chowing down on corn dogs and not realizing they're turning into shlubs just like the poor guy they embarrassed out of their seats. I'm starting to notice that Byrd tends to tap his heart with his right hand before each at-bat.

Yep, I was surprised Gary didn't get that one, I knew it right off the bat. I was trying to remember who they got for him when they shipped him to Oaktown.

I know I was pretty deeply in denial regarding Doodoo, but now that he's out of the field and EY-Lagares are in the d is quite good suddenly. On an unrelated note Buck really sucks the moose organ right now and apparently was mad (uh, but not at Terry, no) for being PH for last night.

Buck's got that veteran catcher thing that LoDuca had, a sort of bearing like he's the un-named captain whenever he feels like it. On the other hand, Byrd is June's Buck, hitting at a level that nobody's convinced is sustainable, but Terry's gonna run him out there until he crashes to earth.

Even as fielders kick the ball, throw errantly, and make weird no-look exchanges, the DPs keep getting nailed down. It's like an old-timey pinball-baseball game, and the board is inadvertently tilted toward the "Double Play" hole.

Odd fact of the day: The ChiSox and their in-division rival Tigers have yet to meet this season and won't until just before the ASB when the season will already be more than half over. On the flip side, from that point on nearly 1/4 of their remainder of the season (18 of the final 75 or so games) will be against the other - a fact which would be a lot cooler if both were division contenders although it isn't looking that way.
