I'm officially declaring this one a Big Game, seeing as its the difference between a 7-4 road trip ("wow, terrific!") and a 6-5 one ("eh, not bad.") Like that all the Vegas guys (uh, excpet Brown) get to recreate the conditions that made Area 51 so special.

And I had declared coming into this week that this 'two in Chicago/One in Denver' was, in effect, a "series" and therefore this serves as the rubber game and our attempt to win three series in a row.

But if I'm the opposing pitcher I'm driving the bus to the ballpark to make sure they get there safely.

This game potentially equals last game before break last year if it's a 7-0 flop. Or not, of course, but it does feel indicative.

I really like Lagarry, but I think he's given good reason to suggest Nieuwie should get the lion's share (or the Lyons share) of the righties. He just doesn't look confident up there. Even his successful bunt was something of a copout. On the other hand, Coors Field.

I didn't think it was an awful play by Cuddyer. It's no different than trying to steal a base in that spot, really, and Byrd needed to stay alert, quickly get himself in a position to throw, and throw a perfect strike on one bounce to get the out. The fact that Byrd did all that doesn't necessarily make it a bad gamble, just an unsuccessful one. Quintanilla also did a super job twice getting the tag down very quickly (the first time was on the pickoff).

From that camera view the person was distracting and got on my nerves. After he kept it up for 6 innings or so I just figured he had a problem. Maybe he was doing a Stevie Wonder groovethang with the music or something. I dunno. Looked like he was singing along to whatever was playing in his headphones.

Huge win. With Harv opening the homestand, gigantic. Terry totally played with house money, Hef on the mound in Denver and didn't surrender a HR, Lutz and Satin at the heart of the order and he didn't even need to call on Sugar. Big!
