The Braves guys are saying so anyhow. Is it 1,499?

And now they do - after it was used for about 20 more pitches.

So let's see, another 100 games this season will leave him ~400 short. So we're probably looking at late 2016 before Wright gets this one even if things go well injury-wise.
Seems like he started this week tied with Jones.

Muprhy is also pounding his way up the hit list.

Yeah, I was looking at Murph the other day when I noticed that our top ten falls just short of have all at 1,000+

It's a little unfair to Felix to put him in that group. He got his share of hits--over 1600 in his career, and probably well over 2000 if not for Ed Ott's high school wrestling flashback. And he used to hold the Mets' single-season record.
|
Edgy MD Jun 21 2013 02:34 PM Re: Where Mets rank in 2013 |
Well, 1600 or 2000, part of my reasoning was that piling up hits can happen despite not being a particularly good hitter. But, yes, it is probably unfair to put Felix in there.

Best ERA Through 30 Games by a Met

And the Koosman ERA should almost come with an asterisk attached coming as it did in 1968.

Exactly. If you took bloops, bleeders and bobbles that were scored hits out of his record, Jeter would have a lot fewer hits. We now return this thread to Metly stuff. Later

The next time the Mets win a game (unless, that is, we're in the early stages of a job-killing losing streak) Terry Collins will become the ninth Mets manager to win 200 games.

Benjamin Grimm Aug 17 2013 07:37 AM Re: Where Mets rank in 2013 |
Daniel Murphy recently became the 27th Mets player to have 600 hits.

And with his 603rd hit, Murphy enters the Mets all time top 10 hit leaders among Mets who never appeared in a World Series game for the Mets. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19360&p=506651#p506651

He and Magadan so belong next to each other. Never quite had the same batting eye, but else, they're two peas in a pod.

MFS62 Aug 21 2013 09:22 PM Re: Where Mets rank in 2013 |

What is the single season team record for assists by a centerfielder? Seems like Lagares might be getting close. Also - I heard on the radio tonight (WFAN?) that Satin has reached base safely in 29 consecutive games, a team rookie record. Later

Andrew Jones had 20 in '98. Del Unser had 20 in '68. Beltran had 16 in '99. I suspect this is one of those things you don't get a real chance at except your fist year or two.

MFS62 Aug 22 2013 08:13 AM Re: Where Mets rank in 2013 |
So, it looks like he's going after Carlos' team record.

Edgy MD Aug 22 2013 08:28 AM Re: Where Mets rank in 2013 |
Shared record, in fact.
|
Ceetar Aug 22 2013 09:16 AM Re: Where Mets rank in 2013 |

Ahh, Fangraphs only goes back to '56 with assists. B-R suggests that it's only going back to '54 but then includes all those old guys. I suspect those are simply outfielders at that point.
