Question About Tueday's Doubleheader

Didn't see or hear the telecasts or broadcasts, so this might have been discussed:
Have the Mets ever won (or played) a doubleheader in which two different catchers (one in each game) hit home runs?
If so, what are the details?

didn't they have two catcher walk-off home runs 2ish years ago?

Barajas on a Friday night, Blanco on a Saturday afternoon. (And Thole months later.) But that wasn't a doubleheader.

I'm thinking back when doubleheaders weren't a rarity -- and a day-night doubleheader isn't exactly a doubleheader anyway -- two catchers homering must've happened. But it's a good question.

Give that man a Kewpie Doll! Prior to Tuesday, the Mets had never had two different catchers homer in different games of a doubleheader, according to Baseball Reference's Play Index. Sammy Taylor homered in each end of the twinbill of July 7, 1962, a split at home against the Cardinals, most notable for Marv Throneberry pinch-hitting the game-winning dinger in the opener. But no multiple catchers homering in multiple games on the same day.

Good job with the curiosity there.

Re: Question About Tueday's Doubleheader

Gary was talking about catchers homering in a doubleheader last night and mentioned something about Carter and Hearn. I wasn't really paying attention, so I checked just now.

On June 15, 1986 Gary Carter and Ed Hearn both homered in a doubleheader vs. Pittsburgh, but it was in the second game, which Carter started at 1B, so it clearly does not count.

On June 20, 1986, vs. the Cubs, Carter and Hearn both homered in the same game in which both caught - Carter started and homered in the seventh, and Hearn hit a pinch-hit homer in the eighth and stayed in to catch the ninth as part of a bunch of defensive changes. Again, not the answer to the question, but interesting nonetheless.
