The still surging Mets and moribund Giants go at it again after a mini-marathon last night. Dillon Gee and Barry Zito are your starters. Not mine, but my sense of reality is oft askew. Will both catchers get the night off after going the full sixteen last night? Will the Mets add the elusive Gonzalez Germen to the roster to help out the overworked bullpen? Will Josh Satin get the start at 2B, giving the slumping Daniel Murphy a night off? Will Andrew Brown get the start at first? Will Juan Lagares get back out there in center field? Will Rogers? If they're going to skip Marcum, why not DL him? This is what used to drive me nuts in the Omar/Willie/Jerry days; they'd insist on playing with a 23- or 24-man roster for long stretches. Hopefully Sandy sees the need and fills it.

The DocTees will be in attendance (minus one, who is in dance camp...dance camp!). Mama and Papa Tee in our Mets gear, lil tee in her Giants/Panda gear (we tired everything, up to and including waterboarding, but when you are seven and the the home team has two titles its hard to go against the playground peer pressure).

Their outfield seems to make magnificent plays and absolutely horrifying plays, and little else in between. Pence is, like, perfect for the team.

The guys just brought it up. One tucked in each outfield corner right on the foul side of the line, in a very small area between the foul line and the wall of the stands. One of em was involved in a play the other night. There must be some reasoning as to why, but I can't think of a single one.

That was a shitty call on Young stealing and it really killed a potential big inning for us. You could argue shitty calls at the plate last night did more than anyhting toward making that such a long game. As it is, I was gonna to bed happy once Young scored; now it looks as though I'll be lucky to leave them with a lead. Bad blue.

Actually, I really miss those trips. And it sure was a lot easier on the team to be in the same time zone for ten days. AL teams would similarly do an Anaheim/Oakland/Seattle trip. Usually, one of the two annual West Coast swings would include a stopover in Houston or Chicago on the way home and so add up the team's longest road trip of the year. Part of the reason I have hope for the second half is that they can put a lot of that shart behind them, and spend most of the rest of the season in the Eastern Time Zone, but I imagine the schedule will be getting better for a lot of teams, and they still have one more wicked swing.
