After DePaoli joined the Pirates, the club saw baseball's fourth-largest percent increase in attendance between 2009 and 2012



they also had a bunch of young exciting players......best of luck, a packed CF is fun.

but had 17 sellouts last year?! In a year they finished under .500 and was a lot like the Mets season really.

Nobody knew how to put asses in the seats better than Bill Veeck. I'd take a page out of the Veeck playbook and install an exploding scoreboard. With real explosives. You know why.

I remember taking a look at the Pirates' promotion calendars several times over the last few years and coming away pretty damn impressed-- both by volume (they had SOMETHING going virtually every home game) and by the fun/fanbase-nurturing nature of 'em (Pirate Pierogie figures, bobbleheads of guys like Bob Walk and Tekulve, Pirate-alum meet-and-greets during EVERY weekend homestand).
