Re: Happy Canada Day

In honor of the day, the Blue Jays are currently kicking Detroit's ass all over the field.
8-2 in the 7th. RA Dickey honors his temporary country against his native one with 7 strong innings, and Jose Reyes, a native of neither country involved, celebrated anyway by hitting a HR.

I'm one fourth Quebeçois. I mark this day with patriotic zeal, or the bitterness of the culturally oppressed, depending on the mood of the Franco-Canadian zeitgeist.

I thought that video was opening to a story of folks coming from the small towns up north to pursue their dreams of skate-and-puck glory in the big city. I was half expecting her to break into "H-O-C-K in the Provinces!"

That's terrible and sublime at the same time.

It sort of works as a three-part with "Boom Boom Mancini" and "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner," doesn't it? All hapless stooges of fate, left to do horrible things on behalf of some invisible man with a tie else who doesn't want blood on his hands.
