Let's Kick Ichiro's Ass!

Cammy brings out the lineup card.

A nice gesture before the game - Willie had Mike Cameron bring the lineup card to home plate, and he received a nice round of applause.

Reyes starts off the game with a single off of Jamie Moyer (a/k/a The Ancient Mariner). Keith is talking about how he hit against Moyer, and Keith has been retired forever!

I missed Wright getting to first. Beltran pops up for the first out.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 17 2005 10:11 PM

Fuckshit! Reyes gets caught trying to steal third!

The Eunuch said on the pregame interview with Cammy that he put the idea of Cameron handing the card "in Willie's ear."

He's been peeing in my ears for several seasons now. Glad Willie gets a good idea from the Eunuch.

Mikey grounds out to end the top of the first.

I forget - who is The Eunich?

ScarletKnight41
Jun 17 2005 10:17 PM

Ichiro singles.

At least I don't have to listen to the Seattle announcers call the game. They are worse homers than the TBS crew.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 17 2005 10:20 PM

Ishii walks the next batter, so there are runners on first and second and no outs.

Bret Sabermetric
Jun 17 2005 10:22 PM

Ed "The Cheerful, Grateful Eunuch" Coleman.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 17 2005 10:23 PM

Ah - I had forgotten that one.

A strikeout for the first out of the inning.

Bret Sabermetric
Jun 17 2005 10:24 PM

I wanted Sexson when we lost Delgado. He's a ringer, baseball-wise, for Kingman.

He hit a HR I saw at Yankee Stadium in the middle of May--a shot off Pavano.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 17 2005 10:25 PM

Sexson strikes out on a check swing.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 17 2005 10:27 PM

A flyout to Cliff ends the first. 0-0.

Bret Sabermetric
Jun 17 2005 10:31 PM

Like I said, a Kingman clone.

Where have all the Mientkiewicz "defense is all you need from a 1b man" people gone, long time passing? I was looking forward to a discussion of that burning question.

And why has no one revived the "Delgado-Mientkiewicz comparison" thread? I miss that one too.

Diaz flies out, stranding two runner, to end the top of the second.

Forget Santiago; maybe Borders is our man.

Fuckshit! Fucking Ichiro hits a three run homer off of Ishii. Goddam!

Edgy DC
Jun 17 2005 10:46 PM

I'm not sure Ishii is looking like my LOOGy.

Ichiro shows Ishii who is ichiban.

Calling that liner by Wright off of Boone's glove an error.

Tough call.

I've been baking strawberry-rhubarb pies during this game--so far, I've scorched two pie shells black getting caught up in the game.

Shutting the game off now--I've got no more pie crusts to spare.

Bloomquist steals two bases on two pitches, and I smell something smoking in the oven....

Ishii gets Ichiroo this time.

Met batters have this pop-up thing down pat tonight.

Jun 18 2005 12:27 AM

Anderson just got tossed after striking out to end the inning with the bases loaded.....that doens't help in many ways...crap

Frayed Knot
Jun 18 2005 12:28 AM

Anderson called out - bases loaded/2 outs - on 2 pitches that he couldn't have reached with a canoe paddle: one low & outside, the other low & inside.
Got tossed right after for offering the ump his instant assessment.

Prolly the last best chance to get back in the game (not that we weren't doing a fine job of fucking this up on our own)!

Matsui in at second base....

Frayed Knot
Jun 18 2005 12:38 AM

Nice inning by DeJean - but is there a reason why Heilman couldn't have thrown a 2nd inning?

Daubach gets beaned on the knee by one of those Nelson sliders -- not sure yet if the ump called it a strike

Ugly game is over...

Frayed Knot
Jun 18 2005 12:43 AM

So tonight was the (stereotype) Met fan's dream:

* Piazza out from behind the plate - and there was a passed ball and the Mariners ran wild anyway

* Matsui off of 2nd - and there was a botched grounder and dropped pop fly anyway

* Diaz in for Cameron - and he never got the ball out of the infield

Any other suggestions geniuses??

Edgy DC
Jun 18 2005 01:15 AM

To be fair, I don't think a start by Ishii was part of that dream.

I'm a Met fan, let me go to sleep and see.

Johnny Dickshot
Jun 18 2005 01:28 AM

To be honest, Ishii's been a lot worse some nights -- but I suppose with a 2-0 count and 2nd & 3rd you oughta just not fool around with Ichiro. The D did Ishii few favors and the O still less.

It's on WWSB, sorta, that he got burned again with a base open.

I'm fairly confident by now that Heilman does at least a bad a job as Ishii as our No. 5, and maybe better. His body language just looks better. So I suppose I'm saying, Let's write off this trade and surrender the plan to get better value in a trade.

It's by no means all Ishii's fault -- but we're tumbling out of relevancy at a fantastic pace thanks mainly to the O but somebody has to pay.

Positives: Wright & Reyes each had some good swings tonight.

i didnt feel like posting all night during another really bad game. this team stinks.

Johnny Dickshot

I caught Heilman in mid-pitch at Shea recently. This was the last pitch of the 6-9 game IIRC.

Why is Beltran watching from the stands instead of the dugout?

ScarletKnight41

Did anyone listen to the game on the radio Friday? If so, did Gary Cohen wish D-Dad a Happy Father's Day?

My FIL just called, and apparently he got to the radio guys and asked Gary to wish his son in NJ a Happy Father's Day. If anyone heard the greeting, let me know.
