Some lineup juggling happenin' tonight.
*Supposedly older than Santiago The reason we lost yesterday is that I didn't post a rally song. I'll not make that mistake again. I hope you're all enjoying your barbecue.

OK, so the Mets go down in order. That's nothing new.

The next commercial comes from "The Foundation for a Better Life," a parable about an umpire who made a bad call, and the player who got jacked helps the ump with his car after the game, and what an example that was for junior.

Suspicious minded person that I am, I immediately wonder what the player did to the ump's tires.

what the hell? how slow is piazza to not score there?
|
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 10:38 PM |
In a craptastic sequence, Franklin can't find the plate with a kite and a key, walking Piazza and Wright and facing Mientkiewicz with two out.

It's time.

Diaz makes an awkward play on a pop and it's second and third with no outs for Seattle.
|
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 11:14 PM |
Two more singles and it's 2-0, still no out.
|
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 11:17 PM |
Borders just struck out on a ball that almost hit him in the face!
|
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 11:24 PM |
David Wright just got the third out (after runs three and four score) on a heroic dive into the stands!
|
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 11:25 PM |
Nope. He leads off.

I'm 47 years old and been a Mets fan all my baseball conscious life - the recent comatose play got me to wondering whether I'll still care when I'm 50 - but then D-Wright makes a hell bent catch like that and suddenly I'm 6 years old again and all things are possible.
|
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 11:52 PM |
Sore ribs and all, Wright triples off the wall and the Mets are on the board.

Royce Ring's locks are getting a little long for Randolph's mandate.

Tonight would be a good game to win, the Phills the Nats and the Marlins all lost, Atlanta won, Beltran up, he looks lost at the plate recently.
|
Nymr83 Jun 19 2005 12:31 AM |
this team sucks. i revise my prediction, since deleted by ezboard, to 71-91.
|

Steady Eddie in to close for the M's, Piazza out, Woodward hits for the Dauber, Wright on deck, 1 ball 1 strike, Woddie gets a hit into shallow center....
|
Willets Point Jun 19 2005 12:34 AM |
Are we winning?
|
cooby Jun 19 2005 12:35 AM |
Willets, you are so innocent
|
metirish Jun 19 2005 12:35 AM |
yeah WP the Mets are winning....
|
Edgy DC Jun 19 2005 12:37 AM |
Well, we'll need at least three runs against Everyday Eddie to do it.
|
Willets Point Jun 19 2005 12:39 AM |
No, I just play innocent.

One thing here, Howie Rose in on Vacation so Ed Coleman is with Gary Cohen, Coleman is useless, he had the call on the great David Wright play into the stands and he was lost, horrible call, actually it was a no-call, I wish gary Cohen had it, anyway the Mets lost so it all sucks..

Spacemans Bong Jun 19 2005 02:01 AM |

They really shoulda had Gary go Vin Scully style or let Eddie C put on a wig and change his name to Suzyn.

Centerfield Jun 19 2005 11:13 AM |
I can't believe no one wripped Wright for his bonehead play on the bases. Sure Piazza is slow, but he's not the reason the run didn't score. You never make the last out going to third...but, you never never make the last out going to third moments before a run scores. If you are going to make a bonehead play and get gunned down going to third, at least get caught in a rundown to insure the run scores.
|
metirish Jun 19 2005 11:18 AM |
It sure looked like on the replay that Piazza slowed up coming home, he certainly wasn't busting it, seems to be the way things are going though for this offence.
|
Centerfield Jun 19 2005 11:52 AM |
Piazza may have slowed up, but there's no reason to bust it if there is no chance you'll be thrown out. The catcher wasn't even covering the plate...I'm sure it never crossed his mind that David Wright would get himself thrown out before he reached the plate.

Baseball is making me sad these days.
|
Edgy DC Jun 19 2005 02:26 PM |
I agree that Wright's responsibility there shouldn't be overlooked.
|
ScarletKnight41 Jun 19 2005 02:34 PM |
Before hanging Wright up for the snafu, do we know whether or what kind of sign Manny Acta was giving him?
|
gnatman Jun 19 2005 03:42 PM |
Not to excuse Mikey for easing it on home, but where was the on deck batter Diaz to signal him to bust it since a play on Wright at third was developing?
|
metirish Jun 19 2005 03:47 PM |
Good point gnatman, also we should give randy Winn credit for making a good throw to the cut-off man at 3rd, he saw what was developing for sure.
|
Edgy DC Jun 19 2005 03:57 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 19 2005 03:59 PM |
Well, let's not hang anybody at all, but my thinking is that a guy going from first to third with the play in front of him in left field runs on his own, as he sees more of the play than the third-base coach.

We wouldn't have been much use during the French Revolution.
